Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Enchanting and Welcoming
Views excellent, peaceful and relaxing. Incredible little hideaway with only the songbirds and sheep for company. Beautifully built and situated lodge. Everything needed was supplied by Jill. A small piece of heaven for a weary sole.

Beautiful lodge
The lodge was perfect for a peaceful relaxing breakaway the attention to detail is superb everything you could possibly need and more ! It's about 10 minutes drive to the town with many restaurants and supermarkets . The outlook is lovely there were some sheep and horses in the field when we were there , even some little ducks in the nearby pond . It's so quiet you just want to sit and take in the peaceful surroundings . The welcome basket was a really nice thought very tasty homemade scones jam and other goodies . We didn't want to leave . Gill was the perfect host and was there if we needed anything . If you're looking for perfection this is certainly the place you'll find it Many thanks for a wonderful few days can't wait to return . Sheena and Paul .

Setting a high bar!
As others have said, this rental is top quality rental and incredible value. Gill & Neil have built and furnished this lodge to the highest standards of comfort, warmth, fittings and fixtures. You want for nothing. From everything needed in the kitchen (including microwave containers, tinfoil and cling film, heaps of cooking utensils and pans, lovely quirky crockery, a wide range of cleaning cloths and fluids) to the Porcelanosa bathroom with Tisserand body wash and moisturiser, the fluffiest White Company towels and bedrobes. The comfy bed had the rarest of treats in holiday rentals (or hotels); a flat sheet under the duvet, and pillow & mattress liners. Even a pillow spray to help sleep. There is a large south facing terrace but if you can drag yourself away, Hexham is only 10 mins drive and the huge range of tourist options in this area are easily reachable. As for eating out, spoilt for choice around the Lodge and within Hexham itself. Speaking of which, Gill welcomed us with a fantastic hamper of treats - fresh scones, jam, butter, shortbread and chocolate. Also vases of garden flowers. Gill and Neil are attentive yet totally unobtrusive hosts, and Bill, their dog, is beyond delightful. We could have spent the fortnight just reading and watching the sheep (and new lamb) in the field below us had we not had to explore the area with a view to moving there in the near future. We are thrilled that this will mean we must book to stay again!

Mrs
Once again we visited our favourite place to stay Woodside Lodge. This really is a little haven from the stresses of life. Gill and Neil have created a five star oasis. It is immaculately clean, equipped with everything we could need and very well maintained. We were fortunate to have warm weather in February on our last visit and often sat with the bifold doors open, admiring the new lake/pond and local wildlife. Gill and Neil are very helpful and offer suggestions when requested but are also sensitive to allow us to enjoy the privacy of the lodge. Gill is amazing, as she always accommodates my special needs (I am chemical and perfume sensitive). We never used to holiday in the same place more than once ...until we found Woodside Lodge! I can not recommend this self catering accommodation highly enough and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Perfect getaway in a beautiful, peaceful setting with wonderful hosts
Woodside Lodge is a perfect getaway for anyone looking for a peaceful stay in a beautiful setting surrounded by woodlands and fields filled with wildlife. There are barn owls that regularly visit the field next to the Lodge, Gill and Neil have recently established a large wildlife pond, and there are deer in the woods nearby. Gill and Neil are wonderful hosts who can give you lots of ideas for your stay, where to visit, walk, good pubs nearby - and Gill makes the most heavenly cakes too! The lodge itself has everything you could need and more - the very large walk in shower is bliss after a day spent exploring! I've stayed twice now, it's even more peaceful in winter time and there's still lots of wildlife to see and places to visit. I'd highly recommend staying at Woodside Lodge and have passed on a link to Woodside Lodge's website to a number of friends. Thank you Gill and Neil for a perfect stay as always.

Superb
Top rate accommodation with fantastic attention to detail. We received a very warm welcome from Gil the hostess who showed us round the excellent accommodation. It is beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The view from the bifold doors was beautifully uplifting, we saw daffodils and hyacinths and sheep and rabbits and ducks on the pond; it was so relaxing. The surrounding area is also wonderful to drive around with lots of attractions to visit. We would certainly recommend it 😊

Fantastic lodge, place and hosts!
We have just enjoyed a wonderful 4 days at Woodside Lodge and what a great find it was too! Such a lovely place and in a great location. The lodge was perfect, everything about it was quality from the lovely bed, amazing shower right through to the superb quality plates and bowls! It was superbly presented and some lovely extra touches like the food basket and homemade scones that were waiting for us on our arrival (which were yummy!). Gill and Neil (and Bill, their dog!) were so friendly and accommodating, and gave us tips on where to visit. It went so quick and we wished we could have stayed for longer. We will definitely be back at some point and are recommending it to friends and family. Thanks again Gill and Neil - see you soon I hope!
