Fishermen's Retreat is our multi-award winning home from home, perfect for holidaymakers who are looking to enjoy the English countryside. Located only 10 minutes' drive from central Bath, Fishermen's Retreat is a cosy cottage in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with some beautiful wildlife. The Midford Brook at the bottom of your own private garden offers opportunities for coarse and fly-fishing, while the area on your doorstep is awash with walks and cycle routes. There is a large, king-size master bedroom and a smaller single bedroom, as well as additional room on the downstairs sofa bed. It will accommodate 2-3 guests comfortably but is suitable for up to 4 people.

Lovely homely petite cottage with wonderful views of wildlife. We saw roe deer, rabbits, squirrels, herons & an abundance of birds. All this from the bedroom & lounge. The well stocked bird feeders gave a constant supply of visiting birds. A lovely stream at the...More

About the neighbourhood
The Midford Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty only 10 minutes from Bath city centre. Fishermen's Retreat is located on Tucking Mill Lane, a small hamlet a short walk from the village of Monkton Combe. Nearby are two excellent pubs that serve food all day. There is also the Two Tunnels Greenway shared use cycle path and many walks and cycle routes on your doorstep.
In Bath there are many attractions, including the Roman Baths, Royal Crescent and Bath Abbey, as well as a delightful range of restaurants and bars. One of our favourite places to eat out is at Sotto Sotto near Pulteney Bridge. Closer to home at the cottage, lunch at the Darling Deli in Combe Down is a must try!
Getting around
The nearest motorway to the cottage is the M4 and it's best to get to the property by car if you can. Private parking at the cottage is completely secure and found directly outside for up to 2 cars. If you're coming in to Bath Spa Railway Station by train you can call for a taxi outside the station or pre-book with Abbey Taxis and it should only take 10 minutes to reach the cottage. Bristol Airport is the nearest airport, about a 40 minute drive. The 267 and 3 bus will get you to Monkton Combe from Bath city centre and it's a short 10 minute walk from the village to the cottage.

Free parking directly outside the cottage for up to 2 cars and good access to A-roads and the M4, so it's best to come by car if you can. Taxi rides are about 10 minutes from Bath Spa Railway Station if you're coming by train and, if you're early, you can leave your luggage at Cafe au Lait for a small fee and wander around Bath. Two buses will get you to Monkton Combe - 267 and 3 - and it's a short walk from the village to the cottage.
