Wonderful cottage, which was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Had a lovely view looking out over a field of cows. Beth and Glen were wonderful hosts.

Just imagine ....
Just imagine, a weekend away in an exceptionally well equipped cosy cottage, set within a working farm, with stunning views of Staffordshire’s magnificent Moorlands.
Country walks are everywhere in this part of the world. The Churnet Valley is a must for steam railway enthusiasts. And the Manifold Valley has long and short walks suitable for all abilities.
For younger visitors, the Alton Towers theme park is really close by.
At the right time of year you can also nip across to the neighbouring Derbyshire Dales, maybe to see the world famous Well Dressings.
Yes, that is a lot to do in one weekend, so you’ll definitely need to stay longer or return to get the full benefit of the seasons. Three cottages situated on a quiet country lane, are available to rent, one of which has full disability/wheelchair access.
We stayed here in May 2021 and enjoyed the friendly hospitality and have no hesitation in recommending Little Summerhill Cottages to anyone. You won’t be disappointed.

Just right for a 'multi generational away trip'.
This was a trip to take my parents (in their eighties), along with my daughter (age 25) and myself (somewhere between the 2!) to the area of my dad's childhood. A trip down memory lane for him.
Chestnut Cottage had an ideal layout with the downstairs bedroom and adjacent wetroom just right for my parents, whilst the galleried spacious upstairs twin bedroom with living room sofas (and TV - although we didn't use it) was ideal for my daughter and I.
We loved the farmyard setting with far reaching views, and the closeness to main roads to visit various places on our agenda.
Beth and Glyn were extremely accommodating and willing to help with any enquiries.
If we came again we might opt for Oak cottage for the additional bathroom upstairs.

Great little cottage
Thank you for a lovely stay, Chestnut cottage was lovely and clean and very well equipped. Beth was very welcoming, nice to have milk eggs and bread on arrival.
Little Summer Hill cottages are in a really nice location remote but close enough to main routes to visit local attractions. Some great places to visit and lots of places for walking.
Will return if decide to come back to area in future.

Tranquil Stay
We needed a play to stay that was relatively close to Alton Towers. Chestnut Cottage was an ideal location. It is ideally located 30 minutes form Alton Towers and only 1hr 10 minutes from Drayton Manor. So we were able to go to both parks during our stay.
The Cottage was very clean and surprisingly spacious for a family. Beth's hospitality was excellent. we even got an opportunity to see the chicken pen :)
I would be happy to stay there again anytime I plan a trip to Alton Towers. Perfect location!!

Peaceful, beautiful views, great location and a real home from home
We have just returned from 5 nights staying at this cottage and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
The online pictures and write up don't really do this place justice. The location is very peaceful with great views of the countryside. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you could possibly want/need. It was very nice to have bread and local eggs and milk provided for us on arrival. The owners were helpful, friendly and provided good instructions on how to find them and gave us a couple of great ideas for local days out.
We stayed with our daughter (14) who enjoyed the large "den" upstairs. We booked as it was very conveniently located for our visit to Alton Towers. But this area has loads more to offer!
We all had a great break and would have no hestitation in recommending this as a wonderful place to stay and will use again if we are in the area.

Beautiful cottage with all you need!
I stayed at Chestnut Cottage with my husband and 2 young children for 3 nights in August for a planned trip to CBeebies Land & Alton Towers. The accommodation was warm, beautifully decorated and well laid out. The galleried bedroom/lounge area upstairs was perfect for our young family and well equipped for all ages. It was safe for my children and they loved the wet floor shower room and making dens upstairs with all the blankets and cushions! We didn't even use the double bedroom downstairs as the galleried room was sufficient for a family of 4.
Beth & Glynn were very welcoming upon our arrival and left necessities such as milk, bread and eggs which was great as we arrived late on a Sunday afternoon after a long drive.
The surroundings were beautiful a short 8 minute drive to the local 24 hour Tesco & petrol station, and an easy 20 minute drive to Alton Towers resort.
I would - and have - thoroughly recommend the cottage for anyone visiting the area.

Great location, very friendly and helpful hosts in a tranquil setting.
We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone visiting the area. The pictures don't do it justice - the location is very peaceful, the cottage very well kept with all amenities you could need and the hosts were very helpful and friendly (even bought our washing in off the line when it was raining and we were out!).
We stayed with our children from 6 to 14 years old and the accomodation was ideal for them and much to their liking, and also very conveniently located for a visit to Alton Towers.
We would definitely recommend and would stay again! 5 out of 5 all round!!

We are told we are in a beautiful area (you don't always appreciate it when you live there) with lots of lovely walks, two good pubs in the village, interesting church with octagonal tower, bird sanctuary, nature reserve and two steam railways within 5 miles. Alton Towers, the Trentham Estate and Monkey Forest, the Potteries, Churnet Valley, Peak District all within half an hours drive. Sadly our 9 folders of tourist information have had to be removed due to Covid 19 so you will need to check details online.
Getting around
Although only 1 mile from the A52 it is about 2 miles to the nearest bus stop and there are no pavements along the A52.so a car is needed.

How to get there
The postcode ST10 2PL will bring you to the door but usually up the lane which is a couple of miles long and single track. It is much easier to come in from the A52 from Werrington(Cellarhead) to Cheadle. About 1 mile after the lights turn right for Dilhorne, after half a mile turn right for Caverswall and we are 0.4 miles on the right after the farm with a high wall. The name is over the door.
