The barn holiday annex offers privacy and space with a one bedroom, single-storey living accommodation with king size bed and the option of a single Jaybee-type bed or a baby/toddler cot to accommodate extra guests (children and babies). Said to be the best preserved in the country and considered of national significance dating around 1610, this sympathetically and recently converted barn offers a wealth of original features, furnished with a modern twist. Leading from the living room, double French doors open out onto the garden with table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco. With plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay, this is ideal for that perfect getaway. Our guests enjoy cotton bed-linen and white fluffy towels for extra comfort and luxury. If you require a local supermarket delivery we can take delivery and unpack your groceries into the kitchen prior to your arrival if required.

Interaction with guestsThe property is a beautiful and well established holiday accommodation. We love to communicate with our guests and share our knowledge of the local area if asked, but will equally leave you completely alone for a totally peaceful and private stay if that is what you need. We will provide some tea, coffee (and a nespresso coffee machine), juice and milk for your arrival and the kitchen is well stocked with salt, pepper, and other seasonings. We will also leave you with a little special holiday treat such as box of chocolates or biscuits.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Lovely relaxing stay
Lovely converted barn accommodation. Quality decor and nice details such as homemade jam and marmalade in the fridge & quality apple juice. Local soap in bathroom. Nice peaceful back garden area. Lots of local books and local information. We stayed for our “baby moon” meaning we had booked some hypnobirthing sessions with the owner, Debbie. We therefore were greeted with a lovely welcome gift. Debbie is lovely and very welcoming. Would highly recommend the accommodation and the informative & relaxing hypnobirthing sessions. Of course you can have one without the other! But they are also a lovely combination.

Fabulous stay in superb accommodation.
We had a wonderful stay for four nights. The location is excellent for discovering Suffolk and we visited a Country Estate, lovely villages and town and had a day trip to the seaside to Southwold. The accommodation is superb. There was a really comfortable bed and all we could wish for in terms of kitchen , shower room and lounge. All the special little touches made this extra special. The toiletries, extras in the kitchen, leaflets for those new to the area. The owners are exceptionally well organised and welcoming.

An ideal property and location for a peaceful getaway.
This was our second visit to the stables and once again it was everything we could have wanted. The location is perfect for us being in the quiet countryside but close to places such as Bury St Edmunds, Thetford Forest and Newmarket where we spent two days at the races. Debbie is a great host and communication with her prior to our visit was excellent. I would recommend this property to absolutely anyone and no doubt we will return in the future.

Peaceful retreat
Our second stay at the Stable, which is developing into a firm favourite. Such a peaceful place to take a break, and get away from the bustle of life. Extremely comfortable in the cottage, with plenty of space, and a lovely, private area to sit outside. Also a great location for visiting nearby NT properties, gardens and market towns. Long Melford well worth a visit. And the Suffolk coast only an hour away. A real find.

Gorgeous and it really is peaceful!
The Stable is a gorgeous annexe to the main residential barn, with private driveway and small but perfectly formed patio and grass area to the rear. Sadly we had a lot of rain during our stay so weren't able to make use of the outdoor space. The interior however was a saviour for us. The barn is spacious and tastefully decorated. The features of the original barn seem very much intact and the design is well laid out with a generous lounge. The kitchen is small but open plan. It has all the equipment you need and you can cook whilst being part of the lounge. The bedroom is a very good size with plenty of furniture. The bathroom is a wet room and more than adequate for our needs. The Stable is located in a rural village, it's a through road but very little traffic so it really was very peaceful. It's a great base for exploring the many villages, towns and beaches of Suffolk. We loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Perfect for our first getaway
Thank you for our lovely stay at The Stable. You made us feel so welcome. The Stable was very comfortable, clean, and suited our needs and wants perfectly. We hadn’t been out and about for about 6 months, and your accommodation made us feel safe. And we loved that the accommodation was a converted and fully modernized 17th century stable; we love those period features! Thank you!

Stayed for two nights at The Stable, a stunning, well equipped property with some lovely personal touches. Ideal for couples, for a relaxing break or to explore surrounding area. From the warm welcome from the host, to the pre ordered breakfast items from neighbouring farm and the little extra touches made it the most enjoyable stay. Thank you

What a lovely place to stay
What a lovely place. Full of character, comfortable and an ideal place to relax whether on a leisure trip or business. Situated in a rural setting, complete with ducks and farm shop in the village. Easy access by car to the area via the A14. So much better than local hotels. Owners very easy to communicate with, honestly it’s a gem.

About the neighbourhood
The market town of Bury St Edmunds is just 5 miles away. Take a stroll around the famous Abbey Gardens of St Edmund or watch a show at the recently refurbished historical Theatre Royal. The historic towns of Norwich, Colchester and Cambridge are all less than an hours drive. Visit the Suffolk coastline, just 40 miles away, famous for its exclusive, multi coloured beach huts. Lavenham and Long Melford, the home of medieval wool towns with their crooked, timbered cottages and ancient churches are also a must. Suffolk contains some wonderful historic sites and buildings including the dramatic castles at Framlingham and the famous ship burial of an Anglo Saxon warrior king and his most treasured possessions at Sutton Hoo.
