Winter visitors love the huge inglenook fireplace and a log fire brings the room to life like nothing else can. Road and rail links are very good and footpaths radiate from the cottage towards the delightful small town of Bidford on Avon, along the river and into lovely the Worcestershire countryside. Some guests chill out , live a local life, walk, read, cycle or even fish in the river whilst others explore local towns and countryside or travel further afield to Oxford or Cheltenham. Many visitors stay here whilst visiting or exhibiting at The National Exhibition Centre easily reached via the A46. Children love Birmingham's Cadbury's World and the legendary Warwick Castle though most parents generally seem less enthusiastic! However the beautiful, peaceful gardens are always a hit with both!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Beautiful, what a find
Very old, quaint, cosy cottage full of character with a beautifully kept sunny garden. Extremely warm and friendly welcome from the owner Geoff. We stayed as a family of six adults, two children and a dog. Very clean and has everything you could need to self cater. Very peaceful and quiet in the small hamlet of Marlcliff, really close to the river Avon which is about a 5 minute walk away. Walks through the fields or along the river to Bidford on Avon. Really close to Stratford on Avon where we spent a day. Really good animal park, All Things Wild, which also has a dinosaur walk which our Granddaughter absolutely loved is near. We couldn't keep the male members of the family away from the British Motor Museum either. We all absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to relax and unwind.

1 The Hamlet Stratford Upon Avon
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This charming cottage was very well equipped and is a perfect rural retreat in which to relax . Great local information for eating out etc provided by our host who is most solicitous. A real home from home atmosphere. We hope to return.

Cosy and quirky!!
Short break for 3 generations of our family. As soon as we opened the door we felt at home. So much love and thought has gone into this cottage. Everything we needed (and more) was provided. A chance to relax after lots of lovely, slushy Welly walks! The children loved exploring the house and garden and when they were finally exhausted, time for the grown ups to curl up with a book and a glass of wine in front of a roaring fire. The only downside was that we had to come home but there's always next year. Thanks and congratulations to Geoff for giving us this slice of the good life

Home from home
We immediately felt at home walking in. A well kept property in and out, and in a good location for local walks and drives to attractions.

Weekend Away
1 The Hamlet is a lovely cottage with beautiful gardens in the little village of Marcliff, which is 5 minutes drive from Bideford on Avon and is the perfect base to explore the surrounding areas. This is the second time I have stayed at this cottage and will definately be going back next year, as there is still so many surrounding places I have yet to explore. There is a lovely river walk within 5 mins of the cottage.

Quaint Country Cottage
The Cottage was an ideal location within the Cotswolds, with lots of places of interest within easy access. Also Wonderful Pubs and Restaurants within walking distance. Very cosy accomodation, with room to spread out, 2 comfortable double bedrooms. Another with twin beds and one single bedroom. We were blessed with some sunshine that made the Sun room an ideal place to sit and read and play cards, also too enjoy the picturesque Garden. I was really impressed with the size of the cottage. All in all Great place to stay.

About the neighbourhood
Next door to The Hamlet is a three acre meadow garden, The Woodpeckers, which is open to the public by request. The Domestic Fowl Trust is located at nearby Honeybourne. There are many wonderful National Trust properties within a radius of 10 miles, Charlecote Manor, Coughton Court, Snowshill Manor and the beautiful Arts and Crafts Garden at Hidcote Manor. A lovely, private Stately home at Ragley Hall is only 5 miles away and with its extensive grounds and adventure playground is popular with children. Possibly, the most frequently visited nearby attraction is Warwick Castle, though Birmingham's Cadburys' World comes close second for families with children. Footpaths radiate from the cottage in all directions, indeed many guests park the car and walk everywhere for the week! Guests who bring bikes may access a Greenway Cycle track at Milcote ( 4 miles) which goes right to the centre of Stratford on Avon. At the Stratford end of the track is cafe/cycle hire facility.
