Ancient and modern stylishly combine in this self catering property set within a 19th century church in the mountain village of Capel Curig. Where else can you sleep beneath a carved stone pulpit, enjoy a hot tub under the stars or play table tennis beneath a fabulous 19th century mosaic ceiling? And all with lovely views of Snowdonia’s mountains from every window… This was the vision Alice Douglas had when she first came to the village twenty years ago and decided to make the church the most wonderful place for visitors to Snowdonia. And all with lovely views of Snowdonia’s mountains from every window… This was the vision Alice Douglas had when she first came to the village twenty years ago and decided to make the church the most wonderful place for visitors to Snowdonia. St Curig's Mountain Church is a holiday rental for families, friends and groups celebrating an important occasion. The church sleeps 14 in 6 bedrooms and also has a sofa bed if you'd like to squeeze an extra few people in. The Church is a very unique house and the perfect venue for a special occasion. There are four stylishly designed, comfortably sized, en suite rooms, two with hand-carved four-poster beds and two twin rooms. The property also has another twin room and a basic bunkroom with four beds, which is a favourite with teenagers or mountaineers and has wonderful view towards the Carneddau Mountains. The church also has a sofa bed in the main lounge and two trundle beds for larger groups. The kitchen is on the mezzanine level giving a bird’s eye view of the glittering mosaic ceiling in the apse. It is very well equipped and has a large oven, American fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is a washing machine, drying room and plenty of boot storage. The property has a hot tub in the garden with views of the Snowdon Horseshoe, the most photographed spot in Wales. It has a zip wire, pool table, grand piano, guitar, table tennis, dressing up box and various board games. The property has a stable which can be used for storing bikes, kayaks or horses. It’s probably true to say that there’s nowhere else quite like St Curig’s in North Wales. The story of the conversion, a rollercoaster ride through planning regulations, builders and love affairs was described in Alice’s fortnightly Sunday Times column. If you'd like to eat out then the village of Capel Curig has two fantastic pubs serving meals in easy walking distance and there are good restaurants within a 20-minute drive. The nearest pub the Bryn Tyrch Inn also provides a take away menu or large trays of pre-cooked meals for guests staying at the church. We also have a list of chefs who can be booked if desired.

Idyllic stay in the heart of the mountains
9 of us stayed this summer. 5 adults, 2 teenagers and to not-quite-teens. Along with 2 dogs. You walk in and just relax. This place is pure magic. From the beautiful chapel and it's garden with hot tub and zip line to the incredibly high water pressure in the bathrooms (always a lovely way to finish a day) we enjoyed every minute of our stay. There's so much space no one get crowded and the really well appointed kitchen with huge fridge freezer meant we could stock a good amount of food, avoid to many shopping trips and serve feasts throughout our stay. The two teenagers also really appreciated being able to have their own rooms. Alice and Steve are so welcoming and full of good suggestions to get the best from your stay. Wish we could have stayed longer

What a find! A very special place...
It's very hard to put into words how amazing St Curig's Church is... I booked this for my 30th birthday with 14 other mates. It's a diamond find and everyone was in awe at how incredible it was. - From start to finish, Alice was super accommodating and friendly. She helped with logistics and travel plans and even had someone help load the food delivery into the fridges before our arrival!! - The venue sits amongst the Welsh mountains with the most amazing views. - There is so much to do at the venue alone: Hot tubbing, zip-lining, piano playing, table tennis, wall climbing, BBQing, etc - The area is amazing, with a short bus to Snowdon, plenty of swimming lakes and a few pubs walking distance. - The sleeping arrangements were perfect for a big group and all beds were so comfy! I could go on and on, but to sum up, I've had 6 enquiries from friends to book it, so if you're considering it, do not think twice. Come rain or shine, this place is THE place to stay!

An amazing, quirky sanctuary or party house in a beautiful location
I booked this venue as a host for a celebration party for myself and 15 others. It was the perfect venue and the hosts were very accommodating. Whether you want to host a celebration, go on a walking trip or just relax this converted Church is the perfect venue. There is lots of original features including an amazing mosaic ceiling. There is also a grand piano if you want to entertain your guests. Outside there is a hot tub and nearby towns of Betws-y-Coed and Llanberris are easily accessible by car or by public transport or by foot if you are feeling adventurous. Will book again!

St Curig’s Church, Capel Curig
Amazing place for a group to stay. Family holiday/celebration, stag or hen weekends, this place would be ideal for all. Plenty to keep you occupied inside and out, so if you do have a wet day where you can’t get out, you can stay in. Alice was brilliant and really helpful. Couldn’t recommend St Curig’s Church enough.

Best ever weekend had by the nine of us at the Church.
Alice accomodated 9 of us for a lads weekend. We had the best time ever. We spent 1 day at the PYB mountain trust just a walk up the road and had a wonderful time Kayaking, paddle boarding and abseiling with our tutor Rachael. She was great and the scenery was stunning. It was a real laugh. The big zipper is just a short drive away and is a 'must do'. Had we the time for walking and cycling we were in the best place for it! We spent too much time laughing and enjoying the hot tub surrounded by amazing views of the surrounding mountains, to do anymore. The Church was such a good choice. It set the whole uplifting mood for our time fantastic in Snowdonia. There's a large kitchen dining area set up high looking down on the grand piano, snooker table and lounge area. Its brilliant. I couldn't recommend it more. We will be back!!! Massive thanks to you Alice :) Dave

Beautiful
Absolutely beautiful place inside and out. I can not say enough good things about this place. It is a experience. And I feel very lucky to have been able to experienced it. My partner has recently been diagnosed with ms and this church seemed the ideal place to wake up in on good Friday of the Easter weekend. We took away a great deal from this house. I just wish I was still there now. Go and visit you will fall in love with it Trouble is nowhere else comes close.. Hosts are welcoming and friendly as well I don't usually visit same place twice as there are to many beautiful places to stay But I can't get enough of this church so will be paying a second visit to experience it all over again.

A wonderful hen house!
I hired the church for my best friends hen do in February. We had a total of 16 ladies staying for 2 nights over the weekend and it was the perfect hen house, very spacious and complete with hot tub, what more do you need! We went to Zip world for one of the activities which was only a 20 minute drive away and would highly recommend it. Alice was a great host and couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The bedrooms were great and most with en-suite which was perfect for our group. Thanks again. Laurax

30th Birthday Bash Success!!
I booked St. Curig’s Church for my 30th birthday party. There were 14 of us in total and we were all completely taken with the place as soon as we arrived. The domed ceiling with its enchanting artwork is a fantastic backdrop to any party or gathering! There is a games area underneath it with a pool table and grand piano as well as a fancy dress box that provided endless laughs and entertainment. The main area has a decent sound system in it and the church is set far enough away from the surrounding buildings to give you the freedom to play loud music all night if you want to. The bedrooms are furnished in a tasteful style fitting the character of the church and are very comfortable. I loved the four poster bed. The views from the church include the Snowdonia horseshoe making the location even more stunning. There is a walking shop nearby where you can rent or buy supplies and the church has a large hot tub, the perfect place to relax after a long day walking. We went to two of the three local pubs and found both welcoming, providing us with good food. The owners of the church are lovely and again very welcoming, telling us to make as much noise as we wanted and to contact them if we needed anything at all. We all had an amazing time and would recommend this place for a party of friends like us although it would be equally as accommodating for a family gathering. I’d like to say a big thanks to Alice for letting us stay and making my birthday weekend so memorable!

About the neighbourhood
Snowdonia is a haven for adrenalin junkies. We have some great activities like Go Below a caving challenge which is a full and incredibly exhilarating day (the extreme is awesome). The fastest zip wire in the world is only about 6 miles away and can be booked through Zip World (make sure it’s the one near us). Another new attraction is Surf Snowdonia and also Bounce Below is good fun, it has huge trampolines inside underground caverns. We obviously also have climbing, hiking, fishing, kayaking, horse riding, canyoning etc…. If any of these things sound interesting then I can send you links to the right websites. Plas y Brenin is only about 200 meters away and they do taster days which include kayaking and climbing etc..
