This is an opportunity to stay in a really ecological cottage, set in a very attractive location right beside a river, in the grounds
of the owners converted Mill. The cottage was featured in Living Design Summer 2010 and was built with
hemp-crete walls and a grass roof. A short film is available on YouTube for those interested
in the innovative construction.
Our visitors really enjoy the generous internal & exterior spaces which are
designed to enjoy the space and light with a simple and natural style.

It has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with bunk beds. There is
level access throughout the cottage and the shower is a level access wetroom
(no bath). There is underfloor heating throughout, and it is a very

About the neighbourhood
The cottage is located on the periphery of an historic estate, so benefits from the mature trees and gentle landscape. We are located on the banks of the Ballynahinch River which is a very special setting, teaming with Wildlife. We are just 6 miles from Strangford Lough ( Killyleagh) and within 30 mins of several other lovely beaches.

How to get there
Hemp Cottage is located 2 miles from the main A7 to Belfast, just outside the village of Crossgar.This route has a good bus service into Belfast to the North, and Downpatrick to the South. Transport from Dublin is possible by train, and now just 2 hours by car from Dublin Port due to the upgrade in the A1. We are happy to send detailed directions once you have made a booking, which may be better than reliance on a Sat Nav !
