The Cottage takes advantage of its beautiful setting with large French doors opening from the living-room onto a private decked area and garden.. Each bedroom has an en-suite bath or shower room and all rooms have wonderful views of hills and fields. You can literally count sheep to get to sleep or enjoy looking at the stars from your bed! The kitchen has a full size oven with gas hob and there is a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a washer`machine/dryer for clothes. The Cottage forms part of a former telephone exchange and was converted in 2006. It is situated beside the famous River Tweed and close to Megget, Talla ,Fruid and St Mary's Lochs so there is ample opportunity for fishing, wind-surfing, canoeing and other water sports. Excellent accomodation, spotlessly clean with everything we could possible need and dog-friendly as well. We loved the underfloor heating and the furniture and beds were very comfortable. Great welcome from Jean

Such a wonderful place, immaculately clean. Jean is always available but never intrusive. You have a personal garden just at the the foot of the hills. Closeby is Loch St Mary, reachable by a small road linking Selkirk to Tweedsmuir is just impressive. Peebles, Traquair,...More

Interaction with guests
We live next to the cottage but are completely separate and are close by to help with any questions or problems and are happy to give advice on local issues and things to do. We want our guests to feel at home and are very flexible about arrival times. We are also happy to take dogs by arrangement at no extra cost.

About the neighbourhood
Broughton is a small village set in rolling hills adrive from the cottage. it has a shop, garage brewery, school, play-ground and tennis-court as well as a bistro bar which is open till late evening every day and serves delicious home-cooked food at reasonable prices. There is also an art gallery open to the public. It was home to hn Buchan who wrote The Thirty-nine Steps and became ovenor-general of Canada. The John Buchan Way walking route to Peebles are dedicated to him.Peebles is about 10 miles from Broughton and is a beautiful small town with the River Tweed running through it.There are many wonderful walks as well as a golf-course,shops, restaurants, swimming-pool and leisure centre to enjoy.It also has art galleries and an art centre and every June has a week of celebrations called ...
