The Granary is part of a fabulous steading conversion just across the River Tweed from the attractive market town of Melrose. The property is blessed with outstanding views over the river and the Eildon Hills and onwards onto the Cheviots. The property has been sympathetically redeveloped and the property is now a fantastic light-filled living space which remains true to its original rural setting. The Granary is a perfect balance between old and new, with the original stonework along side larch cladding along with luxurious furnishings, contemporary features and underfloor heating. The open plan living area has large bi-fold doors which enhance the exceptional views. Each bedroom has an en-suite bedroom, which are beautifully appointed and there are super king sized beds (or twin beds) in each room to ensure a great night's sleep. The town of Melrose has a rich and varied history from the nearby site of a large Roman Fort (Trimontium), Iron Age camps on the Eildons, a Cistercian Abbey founded in 1136 by David 1, Walter Scott's house at Abootsford and the Greenyards which is the birthplace of rugby sevens. The property makes a fine base for which to explore the beautiful rolling countryside of the area either by bike or by foot and many signposted walks are available. There is a minimum stay of three nights during low season and a minimum of 1 week during high season, please see calendar for details. Great space throughout this modern barn conversion - plenty of room for all. The views are fantastic, and the hosts looked after us well. Thoroughly recommended.

About the neighbourhood
The pretty Border town of Melrose is located next to the Eildon Hills and is the birthplace of Rugby Sevens, an tournament that now sees T.V. coverage each year, welcoming sides from all over the globe. This is tournament is held during the spring. The Eildon Hills are the most distinctive single landmark in the Scottish Borders. At their feet in the valley of the Tweed lies Melrose. Ruined Melrose Abbey dates from 1136 and can be visited, along with local gardens. The local town has an abundance of shops selling local produce and crafts, along with an array of places to eat and drink.
Getting around
Local busses are a short walk from the holiday cottage, these busses connect all the major towns in the area, while passing through the smaller villages. The nearest train station is also a short walk away, this line heads north to Edinburgh Waverly.
