Interaction with guestsWe like to meet with our guests on arrival if possible to show them around and answer any questions they may have. Our farmhouse is next door to the cottages so if you need us we are there. Happy to have a chat but equally we don’t like to disturb our guests privacy. You’re on holiday after all!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Highly Recommend
We recently stayed at this farmhouse cottage with two young children. The hospitality we received was exceptional. In fact, none of us wanted to leave. Definitely would go back and stay longer. My children also loved their experience of feeding the lambs. Thank you! The cottage was very comfortable and excellent location for exploring the Borders.

Great Place to Stay
Cosy Neuk was a lovely cottage, converted from the farm barn. Clean, comfortable and quiet and well equipped. Great place to stay within reach of Glentress mountain biking centre, sights and sounfs of Edinburgh, walking and surfing at Coldingham or Dunbar Lovely place to retreat to. Thanks for having us!

Excellent find
We stayed at Winkston for 9 nights at the end of May and were warmly welcomed on our arrival by Jan and George. Their hospitality extended throughout the week and they were always very chatty and friendly. The accommodation itself was lovely; well-equipped and faultlessly clean, we loved the open plan style of the cottage! There was an area to wash bikes and a drying room for all the wet gear. Perfect for any biking enthusiast. The farm is in a great location near to Peebles and we managed to drive to Edinburgh in less than 50 minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the borders and will hopefully return in 2015!

Perfect location for exploring the best of the Scottish Borders
We spent a week at Cosy Neuk and loved the fact that we could leave the car most days and walk into the town of Peebles along the quieter back road. Peebles itself is lovely: lots of good independent eateries and shops. Our stay here was quiet and relaxing; perhaps lacking a bit of attention to detail in terms of decor and cleanliness, but we liked the open plan layout for our holiday week.

We are disappointed to note your 3 star recommendation as we have always had 5 star for our cottages in all aspects. Including Visit Scotland grading. To help us improve our all ready high quality standard of our ever popular accommodation I would be interested in hearing where we could improve on this ? As we take good and bad criticism as a tool to improve on our service. Please advise.

expected the average, but the reality was so much better.....
very comfortable stay, kitchen equipped to very high standard, Denby ware crockery and coffee plunger what more can one ask....wifi worked perfectly for the teenager and the adults relished the quiet farm views. We were strangers to the border country but found so much to do during the weekend, Peebles turned out to be so interesting and the botanical gardens at Dawyck, Melrose Abbey , Hawick etc etc etc All within easy access. The owners were a delight to deal with, totally unflurried and so helpful and welcoming.

Very comfortable, self-catering cottage accommodation in a lovely countryside setting.
After arriving from Canada in mid-May 2013 we spent 12 days touring the Scottish Highlands before arriving at Winkston Farmhouse for the remaining 10 days of our holiday. Our 'Cosy Neuk' self-catering courtyard cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped to accommodate our party of four adults. As returning visitors to Winkston we were pleasantly surprised to find that Wi Fi/Internet access had been installed in the courtyard for the benefit of guests staying in the cottages. In past years the signal was largely confined to the main house. We also discovered that a delightful, fun-equipped play area had recently been set up for young children in a private section of the garden beside the main house. Winkston is an excellent location for exploring the Borders of Scotland and the seaside villages and towns on the east coast. The whole area abounds with places of interest amid scenery that can only be described as spectacular. The historic town of Peebles is approximately one mile walking distance from Winkston with a sidewalk all the way in. A bus service between Peebles and the city of Edinburgh conveniently stops across the road from the main house at Winkston. When we felt like having a break from our own catering, we dined at the Green Tree hotel at the east end of Peebles. The food and beverages were excellent and so was the service. As in past years, our stay at Winkston was made all that more enjoyable by our warm and gracious hosts, Jan and George Haydock. No matter whether you are staying in luxury B&B accommodation at the main house, or one of the very comfortable self-catering cottages in the courtyard, Jan and George go out of their way to make Winkston a special place to stay for a healthy, restful, worry-free holiday. Suffice to say that we hope to return to this location in 2014.

How to get there
We are easy to find. From Peebles or Edinburgh we are situated on the A703 about a 1/2 mile from Peebles and 27 miles from Edinburgh airport. Scottish Borders busses route to and from Edinburgh and the Borders passes our road end, so very handy for travellers. Remember we are Winkston Farmhouse NOT Winkston Hill Farm. Common mistake to make!
