Come and enjoy our 18th century traditional cosy Galloway stone cottage, nestled in a small hamlet, in the Nith Valley, 8 miles north of Dumfries. The area offers peace and tranquility in gorgeous, countryside where there is an abundance of wildlife, even get close to the now rare red squirrel. Walks and cycle trails start right at the cottage door. Maps are provided. Drive for miles on traffic free roads.

The local River Nith is 2 miles away, with it's tributaries which are famous for trout, sea trout and salmon. Permits are available locally. Rainbow trout and course fishing are also available. Other activities include golf, horse-riding, pottery, painting, bird watching, bee-keeping (Help or watch the owner produce his very own honey), quad biking, sailing, museums, castles and more, not forgetting the tea room trail!

Ideal cosy cottage for our young family. The owners provided a cot and a high chair which was beneficial. The cottage is well equipped with everything that you need to have a relaxing time. Plenty of castles and historical places around. One of the highlights was the dino park that's about half an hour away. The pictures do not do...

Our 5 day stay in Scotland was supported by the stunning location and facilities provided by Margaret and Hamish. The old converted blacksmiths was more than adequate for our needs. The cottage is exellent and well located once you find it :-) . Glenmidge was not nown in our GPS !! so sort it out in advance where you have to drive or contact information point dumfries, they now how to give you the right direction. Rooms are clean, kitchen full equiped. Quite place and 15 min from dumfries where...

Join the A76 at Carronbridge, continue till you reach Auldgirth. At shop turn right signed Dunscore/Penpont, follow sign for Glenmidge. From South - travel on M6. At junction 22, take the A75 for Dumfries/Stranraer, Continue on A75 until reaching roundabout signed for A76 Thornhill/Kilmarnock. Take the A76, Auldgirth is 7 miles north.
