Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Amazing Place
This is now our piece of paradise. We came here looking for peace & quiet & relaxation which is exactly what we got. A beautiful barn conversion, so clean with everything you need.
Cows with calves, sheep with lambs & entertaining young bullocks in the surrounding fields.
We took our puppy with us who loved the garden & managed to “make friends” with the bullocks !!
Great wi fi for those who need it.
Such a marvellous place, we are coming back in July
Thanks Donald & crew xx

Fantastic Cottage!
Excellent location, peace and quiet with lovely views. Enjoyed sitting on the window seat watching the Red Kites. A great area with loads to explore. So much so we shall have to return. A very relaxed and welcoming cottage and the dogs loved all the walks. Donald and his team have done a great job. Thanks

About the neighbourhood
Our local town is Kirkcudbright, an attractive and bustling little fishing town, for a long time famed as the favourite resort of artists and craftspeople, and now also a popular centre for exploring the varied and attractive Galloway countryside.
During the summer months Kirkcudbright has a full programme of events and festivities. Among the many attractions on offer, on most Thursday nights during July and August Kirkcudbright Pipe Band can be heard playing in the town. This has a great finale with it’s own ‘Edinburgh Tattoo’ which is a fantastic climax to the summer.
Getting around
A car is fairly essential if you want to explore the beautiful surrounding area. There are good bus links into Kirkcudbright and we are only based approximately 1 mile out of town so it is a lovely quiet walk into town.

How to get there
Travelling approximately 4 miles west passed Castle Douglas on the A75. You then take a left onto A711 to Kirkcudbright for another 6 miles. Once in Kirkcudbright you travel into the town centre where you will come to a main crossroads.
Turn left here onto the B727. You will pass a Tesco on your right hand side. Travel on this road out of town. You will pass a cemetery on your left and then you will approach a very sharp hare pin bend.
Do not go around this bend. Take a right up the hill, and High Kirkland is based approximately 3/4 mile along this road. High Kirkland is perched up on the right hand side and is sign posted at the bottom of the road.
The Byre is the bungalow sits at the back.
