Your host is also a tour guide in Scotland and can provide you with information and advice on 1 day tours or longer to sights such as Roslin Chapel, Loch Lomond, whisky distilleries, Loch Ness and the Highlands.

This flat's location is fantastic for exploring the city. There are bus routes close by that can take you all over the city, even direct to and from the airport. Local stores are great for picking up daily essentials. Very accommodating for us as we...More

About the neighbourhood
The apartment is located within a traditional tenement in the Easter Road area of the city, a vibrant and distinct locality only 10-15 minutes walk from most of the city sights, which makes it a great base for a visit. There is an excellent range of local amenities and easy access across the city. Within 1-2 minutes of the apartment there is an award winning bakery and patisserie, a delicatessen, several cafes, specialist wine merchant, grocers, local supermarket, several food outlets, pubs and restaurants. The Royal Mile, Palace and Parliament are only 10 minutes walk, as are the stunning viewpoint of Calton Hill and Holyrood Park, both of which are well worth exploring. Also nearby is the Edinburgh Playhouse theatre and Omni Centre .
Getting around
From the apartment, you can walk to the foot of the Royal Mile and up into the Old Town, right through the historic centre and up to the Castle. You can also walk to the city centre in around 15 minutes. If you'd rather travel by bus, there is a stop to both the Royal Mile and the city centre from immediately outside the apartment.

There is also good access by bus to the east side of the city such as Leith Waterfront and Portobello beach.

The area also benefits from one of the very rare free parking areas in the city so if you travel by car we recommend you leave it parked in the vicinity of the apartment while you explore the city by foot or by bus.

Railway: 20 min walk, 10 mins by taxi: 3.0 km
If travelling by rail the closest station in the city is Edinburgh Waverley. From here you can take a taxi to the apartment in 5-10 minutes, walk (15-20 minutes) or catch local bus numbers 1,5,19 from the St James Centre near the train station to the top of Easter Road (5-10 mins).

If travelling by plane, Edinburgh airport offers several ways to get to the city centre. A taxi direct to the apartment will take around 30 minutes and costs approximately £20. The Aiport Bus number 100 will take you to the city centre opposite the rail station in around 30 minutes and costs £4.50 one way. More convenient is to take the tram to the last stop on the line at York Place (30 mins) and then from the same stop you can take bus numbers 4,44,26 to the top of Easter Road in 5-10 minutes.
