Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Exceptional hospitality
Like being in your own home, but better. Never has the word "guest" felt so appropriate. We stayed in the main house which is gorgeous, with lovely views over the 2 resident highland cattle to the hills beyond. Archie is a delightful host and Amy and Emma could not have been more thoughtful or attentive. Wherever you are headed, it's worth a considerable detour to enjoy the hospitality at the Old Manse of Blair.

High class night
We were only there for one night to be close to the House of Bruar. Difficulty finding the Mansxe in the dark on arrival, and disappointed our room in the walled garden was some distance from the main house. The menu on the website was already pricey at £65 but in fact turned out to be £85! Sr taff were very friendly & welcoming.

Welcome to peace & countryside
The most welcoming, comforting stay - from the moment we arrived to every time we were heading out, the staff were so lovely to talk with. Breakfast was flawless and in a beautiful glass conservatory with the stunning ground views (along with some Fleetwood Mac on in the background). Shoutout to Brian, his warm welcome and chats began our mornings perfectly. Lastly, our room was amazing. Every single part of the suite had been thought out, everything was the highest of comfort and the “cosy” feel ran all throughout. The beautiful window seat with a view to the family Highlands cows was one of the favourites! Along with the waterfall shower. An outstanding stay that really went above and beyond.

Lovely family run hotel in beautiful surroundings
The warmest welcome awaits you at this family run hotel at the southern border of the beautiful Caingorms National Park. We stayed in the very cosy stable room which can accommodate a family of 4. The food (breakfast and dinner) is superb and the hotel was very accommodating of our dietary requirements (one vegan) and made a 10th birthday very special. Hosts Ann and Archie are incredibly kind and all the staff are extremely helpful. They even have their own pet Highland coos and horses. This was our third visit but certainly not our last!

A gem with an amazing restaurant
The Old Manse was a wonder find. A lovely boutique hotel with a beautiful main house and friendly, hospitable service. The restaurant is truly outstanding- the best langoustine I’ve eaten.

Old Manse at Blair delivers a true 5 star experience.
We have stayed all of Scotland and many places boast a 5 star experience and fail to deliver. The Old Manse delivers on its 5 star reputation and then some. The room was spotless to the point where it felt like we may have been the first people to ever stay in that room. The bathroom was also fabulous with a large tub, a great shower and the room is bigger than our own bedroom at home. The dinner was one of the best we have ever had, particular the caramelized banana desser. To top it all off was the friendly and attentive staff, including the warm, inviting and friendly owners, who went out of the way to say hello to us and invited us out to feed the Coos both days of our stay. This is one of the best places to stay in Scotland (top 3), you will love your stay there. Highly recommend and be sure to book in for dinner.

Perfect stay !
A very beautiful and peaceful stay. Everything was perfect and well thought out. Each room had its own charm. Really enjoyed the main level suit with its magical fireplace that the family was able to enjoy after dinner. The location was ideal. Should have stayed longer. Highly recommend this hotel !!

Perfection again
This was our third stay and again no faults at all. We were welcomed like old friends and could not have been treated any better. The Georgian suite was absolutely perfect. The food was outstanding and the whiskey choice fantastic. We are already looking forward to our 2024 visit.

No detail overlooked…
Amazing place to stay. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable; The attention to detail and ability to coordinate activities (should you want that,) was wonderful. Fabulous wine list, whiskey collection and a GM that knew his stuff. Great location … just far enough from the overcrowded tourists areas but close enough to get out and do any of it should you wish. Excellent food… if you never wanted to leave. Don’t see what you want or need? Ask! Beautiful setting with lots of different options to stay… cottage, contemporary seclusion, main house, converted stables. This place is what ‘full service’ with a personal touch means and we virtually stumbled upon it. Thought we’d stay one night and ended up there for two. Could’ve stayed for a month. Ann and family are great hosts. Thanks for having us again!

Wonderful stay!
A charming, comfortable, yet elegant manor in the Highlands with absolutely stunning grounds. I never tired of the impeccable gardens, adorable long-haired cows in the meadow and beautiful green hills in the distance. The hike to the castle was a fairytale with endless sheep, grazing cows, deer and a Monet-like pond. Our room was located in the stable snugs and we found the bed super comfortable and the room cozy and well-appointed. We enjoyed excellent dinners (the lamb chops!) and drinks (Rory's Old Fashioned!) I can't say enough about the wonderful owners and staff who were exceptionally accommodating and seemed to effortlessly provide first-rate service with warmth and friendliness. You know you have had a special experience when you are truly sad to leave. Thank you to everyone at the Old Manse for our incredible stay.
