Nia Roo is the perfect location for anyone exploring Islay. It’s very central close to the coop and gift shops and right across the road from Bowmore Distillery. The house itself is beautifully presented, cosy and comfortable and is the perfect home from home.

The Cottage was excellent and a good base to start the holiday. The weather was great. Could not fault the the place.I recommend the island for a holiday.

Since I cannot drive and have a dog this cottage was great. Good central location meant I could get to other points of the island easily. Very near all local ammenities such as Co Op and local restaurants. Also had a freezer which a lot...More

Nia Roo is centrally placed in Bowmore. A very well-stocked coop is nearby so there is ample opportunity for grocery shopping on foot! The Bowmore distillery Is opposite the house and they do a lovely visit for £10 which includes a three tots of their...More

This is a lovely, pet-friendly, two-bedroom (one double, one twin) house in the centre of Bowmore, immediately opposite Bowmore Distillery. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nia Roo. The cottage is well equpped and comfortable, and we encountered no problems. A very good base for exploring Islay, and for the most part the weather was kind to us - unlike on Jura the week after!

Islay is known as the 'Queen of The Hebrides' and is the most southerly of them it is relatively small (approx 25 miles long by 20 miles wide) allowing visitors to easily explore. From secluded beaches where you could walk for miles without meeting another soul to lively entertainment and a brilliant welcome from the friendly locals, Islay has it all. There are many historical sites and annual events, for the more energetic visitor there are plenty outdoor activities on offer. It is a haven for wildlife lovers aside from the many bird species, you can expect to see seals, deer and otters to name a few. Whisky lovers will be in heaven as Islay boasts 8 working Malt Whisky Distilleries, they all offer tours and the chance to sample a wee dram or two. Islay is also home to The Machrie Links Golf Course if golf is your thing.
