IN LOVE WITH CARNEY HOUSE
Three of us had the pleasure of staying at Carney House for two weeks in June. Wow! What a gift to call this beautiful 350 year old home, our home for a spell. A wonderful balance of history blended with contemporary. This house invites you to RELAX. Pull up a chair in front of one of three fireplaces, open up the book of Yeats poems you just bought, pour yourself a little something, and kick back. The bedrooms are beautiful, the beds and bedding are high end; only problem is choosing between them! Had many wonderful meals in the dining room with friends, enjoyed the local pub and restaurant, views and visits to the beaches, to Benbulben, and evening walks. Frank and Harvey are excellent, and thoughtful hosts! Do yourself a favor, and book Carney House!

Fabulous property
I had the absolutely pleasure to stay at this property for 4 days as part of my wedding celebrations. 4 couples occupied the property and all agreed that it was perfect for our needs. The property is in a small village with excellent amenities including a local pub and shop. Very easy parking on street immediately outside The bedrooms are clean and extremely comfortable. There is extensive space downstairs for socialising including a private patio area. The owner is extremely friendly and was very helpful with recommendations for local activities. Would absolutely stay again and think this property is perfect for families or a large group of friends to enjoy time in county Sligo!

Wonderful House
We were a family group (adults plus child - 9 in total) who stayed here recently for 9 nights. What an amazing house!! It has been in the Barber family for 100++ years and has been recently restored to add some modern features while retaining all the original wonderful charm. It is spacious and comfortable - lots of space to lounge around on rainy days!. It has all the facilities you need for in-house dining - no need to bring anything. The welocme pack was very welcome indeed. It is situated in the beautiful village of Carney with the wonderful restaurant - Laura's next door. Carney is close to all the great tourist spots of northern Sligo.

Fabulous
Great house in a lovely quiet location. This house had everything we wished for and was beautifully restored with great decor tastes. Location was perfect for surfing in Strandhill (15 mins away) and just right for unwinding after a busy day! Frank was so accomodating and welcoming on our arrival - it just felt right straight away! There is plenty do around the area - certainly an area we will visit again.

Carney 🏠
Carney house is expectional.  Frank the owner could not have been more welcoming and accommodating  The house itself is more than fully equipped, Frank has thought of everything that you will need for your time here. No need to bring a thing.  There are 4 beautiful double bedrooms, the main bedroom has a lovely view of lissadel beach in the distance. The house also has two lounge areas and a dining room with a wood burning stove. The courtyard outside is a good size and very pretty, it was perfect for having an evening glass of wine or beer.  There is a fantastic restaurant right next door and a pub called Battys a few doors down, where the locals could not have been nicer. Myself my husband and a couple of our friends rented this beautiful house for a week.  It's in a pretty little village not far from all of sligos main attractions, about 15 mins at most to places like mullaghmor, streedagh beach, rosses point, glengar waterfall, to name a few.  Plus lissadel house and beach are just a 5 min drive.  We will all be returning soon.

A beautiful house
This amazing house has got everything - spacious and comfortable, beautifully restored and decorated, gorgeous period furnishings, a very welcoming and helpful host Frank and all in an ideal location. We came to the house for a family reunion and it was a truly memorable week. We stayed for a week but we wish we had stayed longer. Frank has created a fantastic home from home and he has paid attention to every detail. The house is also ideally situated, beside a great pub and restaurant and Carney is a lovely village. It is a short distance to many of Sligo’s best attractions - beaches, mountains, walks etc. I could not recommend Carney House highly enough and we are looking forward to our next visit already!

Carney House Highly Recomended
The house in Carney is perfect in many ways. The owner comes from the hospitality business, so the house is professionally prepared as opposed to just a house that a regular home owner rents out where the house is still filled with too much "stuff". The Carney house has just what is needed, and what is left is part decorative and part useful. To start with the house is very clean. The 4 bedrooms upstairs are big and plenty of towels provided. The beds are all very comfortable as well. The home has been in the family over 100 years and has many cool pieces to check out. Location wise it is great too, roughly 10 mins drive to downtown Sligo and 10-15 mins from many of the areas famous beaches such as Rosses Point (championship links golf course there as well) and Mulloughmore. There is a real old school Irish pub on the same street that also features an Italian restaurant (Laura's) and across the street is a real good Chinese take-away if you just want a chill night in. There is a small shop/convenience store up the street too. Less than 2 mins drive is a very popular restaurant called Davis's that has an excellent menu. Right beside that is a famous salmon fishing river. Carney itself is a small one street village, so quiet most of the time and very safe for kids. A great towen to base yourself to explore Sligo and the surrounding county's. We had a great time, and will likely be back again - all credit to the work the owner has done to make the house so welcoming.

Joseph, Many thanks for writing such a nice review, this is all very helpful for others viewing to rent in the area. I am so sorry I missed you when leaving, I did not want to go up to Carney House on the Saturday morning, in case you thought I was rushing you out. Then I looked out and you were going around the bridge. Thanking for staying with us, please remember me to your wife and two beautiful daughters. My renewed sincere thanks. Frank

Summer experience in Carney house
What a beautiful house. Frank was there to welcome us into his romantic old fashion house with all the modern conveniences all you need while on holidays. The fire was glowing and the house was so cosy. Frank took us around the house and as you stepped into each room it was like stepping back in time in a good way. Frank had everything there for us on our arrival lovely homemade bread and jam, no need to go shopping just sit back and relax,we where made so welcome. Beaches are in walking distance or a short drive away. You are so central to everything in Carney we had lots to do and places to go. What a wonderful place to be. Frank we will be back

The Carney Experiences
I made my reservations directly with Mr Frank Barber. I have been many times before to this incredible part of the country I love the dramatic scenery and being able to read a book by sea and for a week forget about everything else. That is a luxury. This time I decided to rent The Carney House that I saw here! It was the best thing anyone can do ! This historical house is meticulously restored with all the modern conveniences it was fantastic in every single detail. Up to the walking trail that takes 35 minutes, beautiful beach near by, horse back riding, restaurants and pubs too! One just right next to the house with award winning Italian food became our favorite watering hole. I was there from June 28 through July 4. Already done it for next year. I am enclosing some pictures when we first arrived If anyone it’s interested don’t forget to contact your incredible host at frankbarber40@hotmail.com

Many thanks for such a nice review. As you can understand reviews are very important to me, starting out on the holiday rental market. I am so happy you enjoyed Carney House, even though the renovation went away over budget, it is very worthy of it, making this a very different, special, unique, house to the holiday rental in this area. Once again my renewed thanks for your valued review, looking forward to welcoming you home again soon. Sincerely, Frank
