Holiday Rental House -
3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6
Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The house is on rue Magnanat in the very centre of Sarlat. Located just off the town square (Place Liberte), this house in the Merchant's quarter of ancient Sarlat is a cool refuge from the long hot summers in the region - providing an 'on the doorstep' position for the town's rich history along with its brasseries, restaurants, bars, cafes and markets.

Over three floors, the house is approximately one third of an original mansion building built in the middle ages and developed as a stand-alone house in the 17th century. The house was built by the Mirandol family of fabric merchants and occupied by Count Mirandol (Deputy of the Dordogne) up to the 19th century.

Newly refurbished to a very high standard, the house retains much of its original architecture,,and includes quality furnishings, antiques and highly specified...

Our family group of five adults was bitterly disappointed with the much-praised Merchant’s House, which changed owners early this year. Firstly the positives: Its location in the medieval centre of Sarlat is undeniably fantastic. A comfortable lounge/dining area, although a few of the dining room chairs need repair. A spacious main bedroom and ensuite. Great showers, decent towels. The negatives:...

If you haven't traveled much in Europe you might like the merchant's House, but if you've got experience with other properties in the price range, there's a good chance you'll be disappointed. Unfortunately we have to echo the feedback from another very recent guest. Initial impression with new owner was not good. We found the owner to be unresponsive to...

About the neighbourhood
Sarlat is a vibrant and fascinating place to visit or, as it is the perfect central location to the wider region, to spend an entire holiday. Whilst physically compact, the ancient town is a maze of narrow, winding, and almost entirely pedestrian streets that are lined with restaurants, brasseries, bars, cafes and shops.
