Holiday Rental House -
4 Bedrooms , 3 Bathrooms , Sleeps 8
Bergerac, Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine
La Bidonne is a beautiful old stone house with unforgettable views over the valley and the vineyards to the village of Saussignac with its chateau and church on the horizon.

Approached along a quiet lane through the vineyards the house rests at the end of the road in its own private grounds. The house, which dates from the 16th century, has been sympathetically restored to include all modern amenities without detracting from its ancient charm and character.

La Bidonne is in the Comune of Gaegec et Rouillac. The village's stunning 12th century, family owned, fortified Chateau is a short walk from the house. The local towns of Bergerac and St Foy La Grande are a 15 to 20 miute drive. The village is also the home of Patricia Atkinson, the award winning wine maker and author.

The main doors to the house open into a spacious double...

La Bidonne is a beautifully renovated farm house with views to die for. It's close enough to civilization to be able to walk for a delicious wine-soaked meal when you can't be bothered to cook in the very well-equipped kitchen; yet isolated enough for kids & teens to let off steam in the pool or field without having to worry...

We enjoyed our visit to La Bidonne. The directions to the house were very clear and easy to follow. The house is excellent with a double height sitting room and large kitchen diner for relaxed sociable cooking and eating. The master suite is also beautiful with great views especially at sunset. The pool is below the house and was enjoyed...

About the neighbourhood
There are a number of local walks - Saussignac, for example, takes 15 to 20 minutes along an old Roman road through the vines. The beautiful Chateau in Gageac is 10 minutes’ walk and is open in the summer to look around.
This part of France is a haven for wild birds. We regularly see a wide variety, from great buzzards to golden orioles, and at the right time of year the migration of thousands of storks overhead. Bring your binoculars with you!
The fields around the house are full of wild flowers, orchids and butterflies, and, at night, glow-worms. The area is very popular with cyclists as there are lots of quiet roads. There are also popular 1 to 3 day canoeing trips down the Dordogne with camping provided. Golf at Chateau de Vigiers is
