Cottage -
2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4
Carcassonne, Aude, Occitanie
The cottage has been fully renovated and updated with all the comforts of modern living, including a dishwasher, washing machine, UK television, wi-fi, etc, and yet retains many of its original features and exposed beams. There is even a wood burning fire in the living room - so nice to come back to after a long walk in the nearby woods on those early spring or autumn visits. Wi-fi is available at no extra charge. The property has a lovely sunny, peaceful garden which is accessed from the first floor, just the spot to unwind with a good book or enjoy a nice chilled glass of wine under the old apple tree.Cuxac Cabardes is a lively, friendly village with a mini supermarket, boulangerie, chemist, etc. It also has its own cafe, bar and restaurants, all within easy walking distance. For those who like horseriding or walking this area is par... Attractive cottage in a village location, ideal for exploring the nearby lakes or the coast. Tucked away up a quiet lane, with parking nearby. Lovely views from both bedroom windows, great to push open the shutters in the morning and lay in bed admiring the view! Well stocked and very clean kitchen and a small lounge - hardly sat in...

The village, Cuxac Cabardes, was everything we hoped it would be: secluded, pretty and with a great boulangerie within walking distance! It's conveniently situated between the black mountains, the medieval-styled town of Carcassonne and the hot Mediterranean Sea so plenty to do for families like ours. The highlights for us were trekking up the Lastours castles, swimming in two picturesque...

About the neighbourhood
Cuxac Cabardès is a pretty village with its own shops and boulangerie, and restaurant/bar, nestling in the foothills of the Montagne Noire. "Les Coquelicots" is peacefully situated overlooking open countryside on the edge of the village, just a pre-breakfast stroll from the boulangerie and other facilities.

There is so much to do and see - the Gouffre de Cabrespine, the deepest chasm in Europe; the Grottes de Limousis, spectacular underground caves with crystals that are found nowhere else on earth; the Cathar castles of Lastours just 15 minutes away by car, horseriding from just outside the village, wonderful walking quite literally from the cottage door, not to mention the two World Heritage sites of La Cité de Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi.
