House Rental
The unique layout of the house means that all rooms are on different levels, most rooms are within easy reach of the the main stairs unless you have difficulty with normal stairs the house should be suitable for you.
The house (sleep 7) consist of a kitchen/dining room; lounge; two spacious bedrooms, one with large ensuite bath/shower room with wash basin. The other bedroom has a connecting door to the main shower and toilet. All rooms radiate off the central courtyard which leads to the private and sunny roof terrace with barbeque. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Fun, eccentric house in an excellent location.
We felt like we were in an M.C. Escher drawing in this house, with stairs going off in every direction. It was easy to get lost on the way to the bathroom. We would love to know the history of this quirky collection of rooms, each of which appears to have been a separate living space at one time. The house is right at the base of the old city ramparts and has groceries and restaurants at the end of the street in both directions. The house is well equipped. Not all the beds are comfortable, but the two of us each found one we found suitable for comfortable sleeping. (There are plenty of choices). The kitchen, being below street level, suffers from damp and smells musty, but overall we were very pleased with our stay.

Medieval Charm
A perfect, quiet location nested right under the walls of the old cite, very friendly neighbours, amenities within walking distance, wonderful restaurants. You're not staying in a refurbished or renovated property so don't expect luxury. This is something that could be easily improved with some creative attention including much better mattresses, pillows, linen, addressing the damp, improving the kitchen facilities and removing what seems to be generational layers of hand-me-down clutter. Nevertheless it does have a quirky charm that could be significantly strengthened if these handicaps were addressed. Kieran was kind, helpful and immediately responsive. The local manager was friendly and extremely patient (we arrived unexpectedly very late but there she was welcoming us in!). All in all we'd rate this house as good rather than average because of the location, but there is no ranking for that.

Hi Rodd
Thank you for you thoughts on our house which I will take into consideration.
I certainly hope that none of these items detracted form you stay in Carcassonne.
I am always interested to hear ideas for improvements I do hope to improve bedding this year and would be interest to hear from you privately on how to improve the kitchen. I thought the damp had been cured by work carried out last year but I haven't been to the house for a while but I will look into this.
Many thanks for your input.

Prime location of this quirky house makes it a fantastic holiday experience
Owner Kieran responded quickly and fully to all questions.
House is situated just below the ramparts of the City yet only 10 minutes interesting walk to La Bastide, and 15 minutes to either the train station or the bus terminal.
The house has been thoughtfully equipped and is very comfortable. The house itself defies description and one gets a real sense of history wondering about how many people lived in it at any one time in its past. Carcassonne is a fascinating city and a great launching pad for exploring the region, especially taking advantage of €1 bus tickets.
