Firstly, I should say that the flat was generally clean and tidy and it’s a great location, at 10 minutes’ pleasant walk along the canal side to reach the centre or similar walking time to the railway station. However, I could not recommend it for older people (we are in our 60’s) because (a) it’s on the 2nd floor, no lift, with narrow steep stairs so not ideal for getting your luggage up and down and (b) the bed is only just off floor level; not so easy to get down to or up from, with very sharp corners which are hard to miss given that the bedroom is quite small.

Actually I would struggle to recommend it to anyone because of various niggles which took the edge off our stay. The fridge is absolutely tiny, stand a wine bottle in the door and it will fall out the next time you open the door. Hot water comes from a boiler on the wall and the water intake to the flat prioritises the toilet cistern over the boiler, so after you flush the loo don’t expect to get hot water in the...
