Overview
Holiday Rental House -
4 Bedrooms , 3 Bathrooms , Sleeps 7
Uzes, Gard, Occitanie
An unusual and spacious old stone village house on the Provencal/Languedoc border (featured in The Times 4/6/08). Huge light and airy living/dining area, large well equipped kitchen, 3 double bedrooms plus mezzanine for occasional use, 2 bathrooms, additional shower room, totally private south facing terrace with panoramic views over the countryside, another terrace shaded by vines, olive and jasmine. 2 balconies. Large entrance hall/inner courtyard. Lots of space and privacy.

The house- once 4 dwellings - is not luxurious but it is comfortable, full of character, roomy and fun for those whom it suits.

A wonderful place to be in or use as a springboard to explore the fascinating local area.

About the neighbourhood
Fournes is about 16 kilometres from Uzes, on the way to Avignon. It is about equi-distant from Uzes, Avignon and Nimes, with easy access also to Arles, St Remy, Orange and all major provencal sites.

This historical sketch was written (in french) in an early edition (1985) of the village magazine, 'Fournes Info' :

At the beginning of the 9th Century, the Uzes region was a county unlike others. In 823 RAYNALD, brother of Bishop AURELIUS 1st, and his wife, AGILBURGE, gave all their possessions in the county of Uzes to the church of St THEODORE, in particular the area around JALLON (Jarolongo), near Fournès.
