The house casts views over the countryside up to spired hamlet of Itzac, dating back to the 13th century. Enjoy long warm evenings and redding sun sets, the extensive terrace and pool areas with barbecue, demand al fresco dining and complete relaxation. Help yourself to the figs in the orchard, perhaps wrapping in proscuito before glazing in balsamic? Delazens sits in the very heart of one of the main wine-making regions of France, with over 120 vineyards turning out renowned reds, rose, white and sparkling wines. This is medieval, historic Midi Pyrenees where a procession of bastide towns and villages perched upon hills offering up awe inspiring views. Cordes sur ciel typifies the beauty of the area. More

We took both properties - the farmhouse and the gite. They were excellent. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were efficient and everything was very clean. Both kitchens were well stocked with cutlery and crockery, and there were excellent indoor and outdoor eating areas. Wifi worked well...More

Additional amenities & feature info
The main house brings comfortable family accommodation and is composed of a large traditional kitchen/diner with a more formal living room to the front, four bedrooms and bathrooms to the rear. An ancient hangar adjoins the main house, offering a further covered area and houses the firewood. Access to an immense loft and pigeonnier. Outbuildings include a former bread oven and poolhouse. Just a few paces away from the main building are the old stables converted into a contemporary, open plan gîte, itself a completely self contained residence with its own kitchen, living and dining areas. The gite has its own laundry facilities and downstairs washroom, providing roomy accommodation for four. French doors lead onto another covered terrace with barbeque facilities. The poolside area and poolhouse begin there too. Both houses have large dining tables to sit 8-12, washing machines, dryers and dishwashers. TV's with DVD, English TV (Sky Freeview), fresh linen, hand and bath towels replaced weekly. We have left a Nintendo WII there to further occupy the kids if you can manage to keep them inside at all.

About the neighbourhood
We are in the heart of one of the main wine-producing regions of France. There are over 120 vineyards in this area. These friendly vineyards offer good white, rose, red and sparkling wines and the vast majority offer degustation and sales. Vineyards range from small operations with a few hundred bottles a year, to grand Chateaux with restaurants and galleries. Itzac is surrounded by fortified hilltop villages - from the medieval city of Cordes-sur-Ciel to the small villages of Puycelci and Penne, and the rolling vineyards of Gaillac so there is plenty to explore. The countryside is criss-crossed with paths and cycle paths. Castelnau de Montmiral is less than ten kilometres away - a mediaeval bastide town, presiding over rolling countryside, dotted with stone white farmhouses and far reac...
