Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent location with all amenities provided.
Fabulous relaxing break with everything you require and more from this hidden gem! Claire and Steve couldn't help or advise enough, very helpful and approachable. This property is ideal for exploring the many different villages nearby, all have character and a medieval theme to them Highly recommended for a nice relaxing holiday with all amenities provided. You won't be disappointed!

A gloriously relaxing haven in rural France
La Bastoulie gave us exactly what we were looking for - a quiet get away with long, relaxing days and fun, enjoyable nights. The beautiful house is set in the middle of rural France. The kitchen is well equipped and comfortable… although we did nearly all of our cooking on the BBQ outside, the sitting room is perfectly equipped for film nights and the table football room saw some of the most fraught and competitive father / son / daughter mayhem that I can remember. I won, by the way, and I’m not just saying that because I’m the one writing the review. The bedroom are comfortable and bright, the bathroom has a great shower and a luxurious bath… I’d advise binning the kids for an evening and enjoying a glass of wine and some bubbles in the bath… Outside you’ll find a table tennis table, options for sitting throughout the day and plenty of greenery and beautiful skies. The pool is wonderful - clear instructions for its use are provided - we spent the majority of our time splashing and swimming and inventing games to play i there. There are comfortable sun loungers if you want to just sit back in the sun and relax - and plenty of shade if you fancy a little doze after lunch. We ended up doing one ‘big’ shop - the supermarket we went to was about 35 - 40 mins away… and topped this up with bread and croissants from the local town, maybe a 10 minute drive. If you need any more persuasion…. I have 2 teenage children and they not only actually said they liked the holiday… but they want to go back! Finally, it’s worth mentioning that Claire, the host, is great at communicating and helping out over text if you need anything, or even just dropping the occasional helpful tip on events in the area during your stay. I can’t think of a single thing I didn’t love about this trip - La Bastoulie is a perfectly comfortable, relaxing retreat. Time and space and sunshine. We had the best holiday and look forward to coming back one day.

Beautiful French home with a fantastic pool
I was lucky enough to spend a week at La Bastoulie with my family and other relatives. If we could have stayed there forever we would have. The house was lovely and clean when we arrived and a folder had been left giving us all the information we needed to stay at the house, along with lots of information on things to do locally. La Bastoulie is well kept and beautifully decorated. The huge garden has sunshine all day for those of us who love the sun, as well as always having a shady spot for those who don’t. A couple of hours spent relaxing in the hammock beneath the trees with a book is time well spent. The pool kept the children occupied for hours as well as providing welcome relief from the 30°c+ sunshine we enjoyed most days. A 10 minute drive will get you to either of the local villages. These are both pretty little places with a bar/cafe, small supermarket, butchers and, of course, a patisserie. Laguepie has a river running through the middle that was set up with an inflatable pontoon during our visit. This is a lovely place to relax by the river or enjoy a swim in the beautifully clean water. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend anybody who wants a relaxing break to visit La Bastoulie and hope to return in the near future.

A perfect France experience
The photos give you a idea but the reality is even better . This house is amazing and couldn't be any more picture postcard perfect . Everything about this house is French rustic charm with its original shutters , thick stone walls , creaks in the floorboard but yet it still manages to have a high standard finish with crisp white bedding , soft fluffy towels and a kitchen so well equipped a chef would be happy .The gardens and pool are also what makes this house even more perfect. We spent hours in the gardens playing hide and seek and chatting in the hammock .The pool was so warm and had lighting which means if the weather is good you can still dip at 10pm at night under the stars (which we did ) The location is great as a short drive and you are in codes a beautiful little town with the most amazing buildings . We will definitely return as I don't believe we will find anything that compares to la bastoulie !

Perfect place for a relaxing holiday.
This house is really special, you can tell it's the owners' home from home. We stayed with our three daughters aged 11, 12 and 14 years and had a relaxed, fun holiday. The house was really lovely although we spent most of our time out in the fabulous garden. The pool was perfect and very warm and there were so many different spots to sit and enjoy the countryside. The hammock was a favourite where my eldest daughter spent many hours reading. We enjoyed visiting Cordes, Albi and Najac but didn't do as much as we'd planned as it was hard to tear ourselves away from La Bastoulie. We just wish we'd had two weeks here, the holiday was over far too quickly.

A wonderful holiday home!!!
We had the most wonderful stay at La Bastoulie. It is set in the most beautiful location, with the lovely pool facing out onto the stunning countryside. You instantly felt at home and Claire the owner was contactable on text if we needed anything (which we didn't!). The house has 3 lovely light bedrooms and the kitchen was a dream to cook in as it was stocked with all the cooking equipment you'd need. The children barely left the pool which was just wonderful and if they did there was table football and ping pong to keep them entertained. A place totally set up for families - mum and dad got to relax and the kids had a fabulous time. Wonderful holiday!

When can we return?
What a week. Next time (and there will be a next time) we will stay for longer. This beautiful house is a home from home (only cleaner, better equipped and in a far more desirable location). The surrounding countryside is gorgeous - especially when viewed from the poolside - and the nearby towns for window shopping, lunch and general exploration are plentiful.

Charming and tranquil stress-free retreat
We stayed here in July with our two daughters and a friend and had a wonderful time. The house itself is beautiful - exceptionally clean and well furnished. The kitchen is extremely impressive; gorgeous cupboards, superb cooker and SMEG appliances; well kitted out with plenty of cookware, crockery, glasses etc - all clean and in excellent condition. The pool is fantastic - bigger than we've had in other holiday accommodation and the older children were also very happy with the large pool table and the WiFi! The area itself is beautiful. Cordes is a lovely place to explore with some very nice bars and eateries. The market at Saint-Antonin on Sunday is a must, along with a visit to the amazing cathedral at Albi. All in all - it was a lovely, relaxing and enjoyable holiday - the owner Claire is lovely and extremely helpful - would highly recommend.

Wow!
A beautiful farmhouse set in a wonderful relaxing garden with a lovely new swimming pool. The house is decorated beautifully, an amazing kitchen with a fantastic range cooker and SMEG appliances. There are plenty of activities to keep the children entertained, pool, table tennis, badminton, table football & darts as well as a well stocked DVD collection. The hammocks in the garden are a beautiful way to appreciate the peaceful location. Would highly recommend this beautiful house to relax and only a short drive to shops, restaurants and vin yards! We will definitely be returning!

About the neighbourhood
The surrounding area is idyllic beautiful rolling countryside criss crossed by some of Frances most famous rivers including the Tarn and Aveyron . These offer river swimming, fishing and kayaking . There are fantastic walks with grand randonee's posted .The tour de France often whizzes through the area in July . Cycling is great on quite back roads and of road tracks for the less committed . There are numerous historic villages to explore with castles perched seemingly precariously on rocky outcrops . There are vineyards to visit for tasting and fromageries to buy the local cheeses . Alternatively just lie by the pool listen to the birds singing and relax .
