The gite Otard has been created from an old cognac storage barn. Built into the walls of the courtyard surrounding the swimming pool the property has a wonderful double aspect. Enter through the patio doors overlooking the pool and then move through to the living area with the magnificent vistas over the parkland and vines beyond. The patio area to the rear ensures that Otard guests have seclusion and privacy making this the perfect hideaway. ( Please note that because entrance to the property is through the secure pool courtyard the property is not suitable for children under the age of 12 ).
Inside the property the original beauty of the building has been retained with exposed stone walls and sloping ceilings whilst providing comfortable accommodation. Unlike many rental properties for couples, the gite has properly defined rooms and full facilities. There is a large double bedroom. Leading from the bedroom is the spacious bathroom with shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. To the rear of the property is a single large room incorporating the the lounge, dining table and modern kitchen. The gite is on a single level and has a number of features such as wider internal doors, electric reclining/standing armchairs etc which means that it is more than suitable for people with restricted mobility.
The gentle rolling countryside of this area is perfect for cycling and walking and the beautiful Charente river provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy the water be it for a gentle boat cruise or an afternoon's kayaking. Very pleased , very good , every thing v/g The whole system worked well from booking to notification of deposit return , the directions were good , they left a sign outside on arrival day , so we could not miss the property , and the accommodation was of a high standard , the people were nice and cared ," apart from free wine and food " there was nothing more you could have asked for ( joke ) .

Lovely Stay
Had a lovely stay at this great Gite. Everything you needed plus a really comfy big bed. I was very pleased when we arrived. Jacky and Neville were so helpful and friendly and of course Remi the dog who was adorable.

Fabulous
This location was just perfect for us. Nearby Segonzac is a delightful village, and both Jarnac and Cognac are a short drive away. The whole Gite complex has been beautifully developed. The Gite itself was lovely, well equipped and furnished and very quiet at night. The garden is an utter delight.
What made the stay so special was the owner, Jacky, who just couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
Highly recommended.

L'Ancienne Distillerie is perfectly positioned for visits to all the major towns and tourist attractions in the area such as La Rochelle, Cognac, Saintes, Angouleme, Bordeaux. St Emillion and many more.
If you are looking for something more energetic, then there is horse riding, kayaking, quad biking and water skiing all within a short drive. We also have a number of bikes for our guests to use.
Sample some cognac, Pineau or the wines of Blaye, Bordeaux, St Emillion....
All too much? Then simply enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful area. Relax by the pool, spend the day at the beach, wander across the vines to the local boulangerie for your croissants or try some of the many excellent local restaurants.
