Located on the outskirts of the medieval town of Vence, Mas Claude sits 300m above the dazzling Côte d’Azur. Set between the heat of the coastal metropolis and the comparative coolness of the Alpes Maritimes the villa is only 35 minutes by car from Nice Airport. Pine and Oak drop away to the south through the Malvan Valley, revealing distant views of the sea. From our southerly aspect, perched above the treetops, the verdant hills reveal little of the developed coastline. The villa is intentionally retro with a lived-in, harmonious atmosphere for relaxed living and restorative contemplation. About the neighbourhood

Vence is very much a working medieval walled town, a lovely destination for lunch, shopping, soaking up the local French atmosphere. About a 3 minute drive or 10 min walk. You can pick up your groceries at Leclerc - for organic -Biocoop Planète Paradis opposite Place Chagall or get delicious specialist foods at the butchers and artisanal shops in the medieval quarter. Head for the old town through one of the medieval gates - Port du Peyra - which sits adjacent to the central square - Place du Grand Jardin - for lovely little shops, fantastic restaurants. Visit the The Chapelle du Rosaire designed by Henri Matisse located at 466, Avenue Henri Matisse. Have lunch in the old town, coffee at Henry’s Bar or a light snack in the square.

Getting around

A comprehensive road network takes you to the coastal towns of the Cote d'Azur going south and northwards to the perched villages of the Western Alps. There is a central bus depot in Vence servicing Nice, and the local towns of St Paul de Vence, Cagnes sur Mer, La Colle sur Loup, St Laurent du Var, Tourettes sur Loup, St Jeannet/ La Gaude and Grasse. The roads can get quite busy in peak season. Rush hour should be avoided if possible in the mornings and evening.

How to get there

The property is a 25-35 minute drive by taxi from Nice International Airport. There are good national rail connections to and from Gare de Nic-Ville, the mainline railway station in central Nice located 35-40 minutes drive from the property. Connections by road via the main A8 autoroute from Junction 48 signed to Vence travelling west or Junction 47 signed to Villeneuve-Loubet are no more than 20-30minutes outside peak rush hour. There is a central bus depot in Vence servicing Nice.
