Very convenient, but basic

We stayed at this apartment recently. it served it’s purpose, providing a base that was within walking distance of all Barcelona’s attractions. It was, however, very basic. The furnishing was the absolute minimum quality that they could get away with - functional, but no frills. Space was very tight. The dining table, for example, it was impossible to sit at, without pulling it away from the wall … which meant that you then cracked your head on the low light fitting that would have been over the centre of the table, had you been able to sit at it in that position. The air-conditioning was a single unit mounted high on the wall in the living room. It worked well, except that it had to cool the entire apartment. The only way to cool the bedroom and bathroom, was to leave the doors open. The bed was just a basic foam mattress, so back sufferers may not appreciate it. Generally, the apartment was in a poor state of repair. I was concerned using the electrical sockets, as they were cracked and loose. I had read, prior to booking, that it was a noisy area. I suppose that’s what you expect, staying in a city centre, but they weren’t kidding. Apart from the usual traffic noise, sirens, etc., we were treated to someone practicing their drums at 10 o’clock at night and lots of ‘happy’ people going home at 2am. The good points, though. The shower was very nice and the internet (clocked at 8 Mbps) was sufficient for our needs. Would I recommend it? Well, yes, it was very convenient. For two people it’s fine, as long as you don’t have high expectations. The description says it sleeps 4 ….. Even though it has a sofa-bed, I would say that’s wishful thinking.
