“Stunning!”

Stunning top floor apartment in a beautiful old building, which is only a 10 minute walk from Bologna station (which is only 3 stops north from Termini Station), reached by and old fashioned lift!

There are three apartments on the top floor and all very private – making the building nice and quiet – and the area around the apartment was very quiet and safe, a Chapel across the road and Convent at bottom of street! There are many (but not difficult!) procedures for gaining access to the building, which makes you feel safe too!

The apartment is great and I couldn’t say a bad word against it – it was very clean and tidy, everything worked very well (washing machine and iron too!) – and WIFI, which was very fast! Cooking facilities were brilliant, the bathroom and shower were tremendous! “Very nice and comfortable apartment, good location, highly recommended”

Top floor apartment in Florentine look alike building, with 12 apartments. Nice, clean, safe, 3 metro stops from Termini. We booked this apartment for two, for which it is very suitable. Four can sleep but leaves little privacy then. The apartment was neat and clean and all appliances mentioned in the ad were working well (WIFI too!). It was recently furnished or redone, and has a modern look and feel. The kitchen outfit is very good, though Englishmen need to take their teapot and toaster. There are 2 Italian coffeemakers, which we highly appreciated. We bought fresh bread every morning at the Carrefour supermarket one block away. There are many shops at Plaza Bologna, a 10' walk. The environment is really nice, the terrace is huge (pity you cannot see this on the pictures), you can take breakfast in the morning, and it has sun all day. About the neighbourhood

This district was born between the XIX and XX centuries and is named after the street Nomentana that it grew up around. It is an area that suffered from heavy bombing in 1944 but in the post-war years underwent intense development that quickly healed its wounds. It is a mainly residential neighbourhood with its most elegant area surrounding the Via Nomentana; an old consular avenue dating back to the ancient Roman era and extending from Porta Pia to connect the capital with the outskirts. It is currently a busy commercial area offering the chance to enjoy wonderful walks. The Porta Pia was one of the main entrances set within the Aureliana walls and was commissioned by Pope Pio IV and designed by Michelangelo in 1561. The Michelangelo decorative features that are situated on one side of the entrance portray a large bowl, towel and bar of soap that according to legend was a joke by the artist, hinting at the humble origins of the Pope, who came from a family of Barbers. Following the Via Nomentana leads to the Villa Torlonia; a construction started in 1806 by the neoclassic architect Giuseppe Valadier. It is one of the most recent Villas of the Roman nobility and conserves all of its charm with original English-style gardens and a surprising amount of buildings and decorative features around the park, including the theatre, the Casa delle Civette (house of owls), the casino and templo de Saturno. Another important area in Nomentano is the Bologna Square that is centrally located within the neighbourhood. At the beginning of the 1900s, the surrounding areas were developed for the middle-higher bourgeoisie classes; a fact that is quite clear from the number of elegant villas. The arrival of fascism brought a profound change to the characteristic architecture and population, and saw the introduction of condominiums, an answer to the increasing number of people arriving from the south of the peninsula. The Post Office building overlooks the square and dates back to 1935. It is also the stopping point for metro Line B that leads directly to the city centre and the main stations (Termini and Tiburtina). Currently Nomentano is a residential area with numerous shops and attracts the Roman locals for its great shopping possibilities, particularly along the Via Nomentana, in the Bologna Square and the Viale delle Province.
