Interaction with guests
We aim to help in the way that's most appropriate to you - as much or as little as you wish! Once you've booked the holiday, we're happy to advise on airports and flights, and things to do in the area. We send detailed, personalised travel directions, bringing you in past a local supermarket to pick up grocery supplies. On arrival, we like to meet and escort guests down the hill to the house, where we give you your keys, and orientate you within the flat. If tired by the long flight, we frequently wait till the following morning to show you round outside. We remain available throughout your stay to help - but will give you plenty of space, and never intrude unless you seek our help.

About the neighbourhood
When not walking in the hills, there are numerous places to visit, the nearest of which is the Etruscan hill town of Cortona (12 km) where festivals start at Easter, a colourful affair. From this moment on the pavements cafes hum with life. Village festivals within a 25 km radius of our house celebrate local products - wine, oil, cheese, beefsteak - even frogs and snails, all welcome!Cortona houses many masterpieces. Visit the art gallery with works by Fra Angelico, who lived here as a Dominican monk; and by Luca Signorelli. Piero Della Francesca was born in nearby San Sepolchro: his frescoes can be seen in Arezzo and Monterchi. Much of Perugino;s work can be viewed in Perugia or at his birthplace, Città della Pieve. Assisi is a must for the 13th Century decoration of its Basilica by Gio... more
Getting around
To get the most benefit from the area, you will need some form of transport, either car, motor bike or or mountain pedal bike. (Although the hill climbs suit road bikes, 2 km of white gravel track brings you to our house.) Trains only get you as near as Camucia /14 km) and buses are linked to school runs, so not conveniently timed!
Car recommended
How to get there
Airport: Rome/Pisa/Florence/Preugia: 175.0 km
Railway: Camucia-Cortona or Terontola-Cortona: 16.0 km
Ferry: Livorno: 140.0 km
Cortona is readily accessible by train (hourly service from Florenze and 2 hourly service from Rome) and by car along the autostrada/toll road (3 hours from Rome and 1 hour 30 from Florence). Pisa and Rome Fiumicino airports are connected by rail and are served by most of the main airlines. Perugia (irregular services) and Rome Ciampino are served by Ryanair. Guests are to hire their car when booking their flights, since local rates do not compare favourably and the only multi national car hire firm with a Cortona/Camucia office is Sixt.
