External Description: The apartment is located on the third and last floor (with lift) of an impressive building dating back to the XVI century, called Palazzo Medici, historic house, on Via de' Serragli in the Oltrarno side of Florence, just a stone’s throw from the city’s main monuments and tourist attractions. Palazzo Medici is now home to 8 luxury apartments thanks to a recent restoration programme which has skilfully combined modern comforts and quality furnishings whilst preserving the building’s original historical features. Palazzo Medici can sleep up to a total of 35 people and is therefore a great option for large groups or families who wish to visit Florence and stay altogether in one building. Internal Description: The apartment (100 m2) has 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people. It also has a lovely private terrace (20 m2) that overlooks the Florentine roof-tops and which is furnished with table and chairs, ideal for morning breakfast or early evening drinks. Upon entering the apartment guests will find the first twin bedroom with ensuite toilet; a few stairs then lead to the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom complete with tub, and a further two stairs lead to the open space living and dining room with beautiful wooden beamed ceiling. The living room also leads to the well equipped kitchen and also provides access to the terrace and third double bedroom and bathroom with shower. The apartment boasts original beamed ceilings and wooden floors and has been very well furnished to create a welcoming and elegant atmosphere. The apartment is equipped with a washer-drier. SMART TV: the apartment is also provided with Netflix and Youtube. Independent heating. Air conditioning: one split in the living room and one in the bedroom. Pricing information: Included in the price: Utilities included (for stays up to 30 days), final cleaning, towels and sheets provided, condominium fees, and agency fees. Not included in the price: Tourist tax of 4,80€ per person (over the age of 12) per night, for the first 7 nights (for information regarding exemptions and reductions, see our F.A.Q. Page); utilities of water, electricity, and gas (for rentals over 30 days) if exceeding € 70.00. Security deposit: For stays equal to or lesser than 15 days, all clients will have to grant € 300.00 with a valid credit card 7 days before check-in for a pre-authorization. For stays between 16 and 30 days, guests will have to pay €1000.00 7 days before check-in. Prepaid and/or debit cards are not accepted. For rentals over 30 days, special conditions apply. Area The apartment is located on via dei Serragli, a wonderful and vibrant street, which forms part of the Oltrarno district in Florence’s historic city. The name “Oltrarno” literally means “beyond the Arno” and this district which stretches along the south bank of the river represents a different facet of Florence to that which is found near the Duomo. The Oltrarno perhaps displays the true character of Florence and in general is slightly quieter, greener and more relaxed than the other districts of Florence. Indeed many tourists tend to choose the Oltrarno for this reason. Traditionally an artisans’ quarter, the Oltrarno still boasts today many lovely antique shops and artisans’ studios (particularly furniture and leather-workers) and Via Maggio remains the focus of Florence’s thriving antiques trade. Over time the Oltrarno became a rather chic area and many aristocrats chose this neighbourhood to build their villas and palaces, the largest of these being the Pitti Palace, which became the home of the various Grand Dukes. Today this sumptuous palace houses several important museums which rank amongst the best in Florence. Other major sights the Oltrarno has to offer are the Cappella Brancacci with the fabulous frescoes of Masaccio, Piazzale Michelangelo with its breath-taking views over Florence, the magnificent church of San Miniato, (one of the highest points in the city of Florence and also one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture within Tuscany) together with the most famous and oldest bridge in Florence, Ponte Vecchio, home to a glittering array of jewellery shops and goldsmiths. Extending up the hill from the Pitti Palace are the formal Boboli Gardens, an outdoor museum of garden sculpture that includes Roman antiquities as well as 16th and 17th century works. The Oltrarno is famous for its wine bars such as Olio & Convivium, authentic trattorias serving typical Tuscan cuisMore

This villa is absolutely exceptional in every way! It is in a beautiful building dating, more than likely, from the mid 1400-1500's and has the character to prove it, but with the modern amenities to make you doubt it's age. The villa Buonarroti (Michelangelo's surname)...More
