Ruby Cottage is a traditional 200 year old two stone cottage, quietly situated in the quaint village of Longnor close to the popular spa town of Buxton, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. The village is well equipped with local stores, pubs, Post Office, craft centre/café and renowned fish and chip shop. There are many stunning walks right from the doorstep and the cottage is close to many interesting Derbyshire towns and attractions such as Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. The River Dove flows to the north, the River Manifold to the south and large numbers of visitors come here to explore the upper reaches of these two famous valleys and the rugged scenery that surrounds them. The cosy and comfortable one bedroom cottage has full central heating and free WiFi. The ground floor has a large living room/dining room with cosy wood burning stove (the first basket of logs and sticks are provided) and a flat screen TV/DVD player. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice box, washer dryer and dishwasher. The first floor has one bedroom with a double bed, a landing/seating area comfortable chairs (a cot is available if required). The bathroom has a large walk in shower cubicle, WC, wash basin, heated towel rail, shaver point and full under floor heating. All fuel for the background heating, all power, bed linen and towels included. A cot and highchair are available on request. Parking is on street, but never an issue. There is an enclosed south facing front garden with table and chairs. A welcome pack of wine, milk, tea and coffee, and some local bakes greets you. Sundries such as shower gel and hand wash, washing powder, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, cling film and foil , tea towels are all provided, so you can relax and enjoy your holiday as soon as you arrive. An absolutely fabulous cottage for two which is extremely well equipped and the owners (next door) are very helpful but unobtrusive. The area is wonderful and there are some glorious walks in the vicinity. I would definitely stay here again.

Really lovely cosey cottage. Had everything needed and also supplied baby cot, high chair and bath which was great. A lovely welcome pack on arrival. Unfortunately the pub in village was a bit hit and miss food wise but really loved a walk to the...More

There are many stunning walks right from the doorstep and the property has the benefit of being close to many interesting Derbyshire towns and villages. This ancient village is set in lovely moorland countryside, six miles to the southeast of Buxton. The River Dove flows to the north, the River Manifold to the south and large numbers of visitors come here to explore the upper reaches of these two famous valleys and the rugged scenery that surrounds them. The popular and interesting stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall near Bakewell are within easy reach and offer a full days sightseeing. How to get there
FROM M6, from south: Leave the M6 at junction 15 and take the A500 toward Stoke on Trent. then the A50 toward Uttoxeter, then the A520 to Leek. In Leek follow signs for the A523 to Buxton. After approx 4 miles, take the right turn (past the Winking Man pub) to Longnor – approx another 4 miles. On entering Longnor, continue past the market place on your right, through the sharp bend by the Horseshoe pub and take the first turning on your right into Church Street. Continue past the church on your right and you will see Ruby Cottage about 100 yards on the left hand side, middle of a row of three cottages.
