- Our farmhouse will provide all amenities for the perfect stay in this historic Drenthe village which is situated at the heart of rural Netherlands and surrounded by areas of stunning natural beauty, including the largest wet-heathland in western Europe at Dwingelderveld
- Fast and secure wireless internet access throughout the farmhouse
- Comfortable new boxspring beds and washbasin in 3 of the 4 twin bedrooms upstairs.The large double bedroom comes with a kingsize boxspring bed, a large built-in wardrobe and also has a modern LCD TV plus Bluray DVD-player
- Large main room, with high ceilings and large windows. There are 4 sofas plus armchairs to easily accommodate even the largest of parties. A new Smart TV gives access to British & American TV stations and there is a new sound system and Bluray DVD-player, plus a selection of movies on DVD, as well as a CD collection

- Dining area with table that can be expanded to accommodate larger groups

Under The Oaks is in an excellent location to discover a treasure of small villages set within this natural, and unique, area of The Netherlands – the province of Drenthe.
David’s fantastic welcome set the tone for our to-be-remembered stay with our family of nine: friendly and open communication, very knowledgeable of the area, walking us through our home-away-from-home, always...
2 families stayed for 1 week. The house is in the centre of a lovely village surrounded by National parks and forests. The village has everything a holidaymaker needs (Supermarket, Bike Hire, cafes, restaurants, weekly market) and the accommodation is well equipped. The owner lives in the house behind and is on hand to assist with advice, suggestions of things...
David could not have been more helpful. Absolutely fantastic location for cycling, walking, and boating at Giethorn. The house was well equipped and clean. The master bedroom is on the ground floor. Close to a fabulous supermarket, gift shops and restaurants. Everyone cycles in Holland so the pace of life is very relaxed. Would love to live there as everything...
We request that at least one group member be over the age of 21. Please note that smoking is only permitted outside the farmhouse. A maximum of 2 large dogs are permitted.

About the neighbourhood
Located at the south-westerly tip of the province of Drenthe (approx. 2 hours east of Amsterdam), is renowned for the open-air productions of Shakespeare which have been re-enacted in its forest amphitheatre every summer since 1946.
In the village there is a grocery store, an award-winning bakery, a good variety of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and a bank. There is a market, encircling the 14th century church, selling everything from clothes to local products – held in Diever every Monday throughout the Summer months.
There is also a Dutch National Tourist office in Diever with a wealth of information on the surrounding area. The farmhouse is just a 10-minute walk away from one of the largest areas of natural beauty in the Netherlands!
Getting around
By car: - A car is recommended though not essential (rental cars also available at the airports) with easy access to the towns of Hoogeveen (20 minutes), Assen (25 minutes), Emmen (45 minutes) & the city of Groningen (40 minutes).
By Public Transport: - Public transport (bus) is just a few minutes walk away with links to the surrounding villages and towns. The nearest train station is at Beilen (20 minutes away) with direct services to Groningen (30 minutes) & Amsterdam Airport (2 hours)
