About the neighbourhood
Sintra is both a town and a municipality in the Lisbon Coast/aka Estoril Coast region of Portugal. Its spectacular setting, 28km from Lisbon, houses a Royal Palace, used by generations of Portuguese royalty prior to the 1910 revolution. The surrounding hills are surmounted by the remains of the Moorish Castle and by the nineteenth-century Pena Palace. Historic Sintra is an heritage patrimony site declared by UNESCO. The Estoril coast is often considered to be part of the Lisbon coast, which includes Cascais, Lisbon, Sintra, and other nearby municipalities. Near Estoril, the majestic Sintra Mountains cast a veil of mystery over the town nestling on its northern slopes. Getting around
There is public transportation to the palaces and also to the beach, but it is much easier to rent a car to move around in Sintra.

If you are not renting a car, the bus or the tram to the beach is 5 minutes down the road walking, and the buses to the palaces are 10 minutes up the road walking.

If you are driving, there is plenty of free space in the street.

How to get there
Airport: Lisbon Airport: 30.0 km
Railway: Sintra Train Station: 1.2 km
To arrive here just find the Sintra Town Council and go down the street on the left. Go all the way, pass the Stop sign up the hill, go down and then when you reach a crossroads go straight ahead (do NOT go into the Red Road), and you will enter our street. Go around the curve and then go down the road until you see a white house in the corner with a plaque stating 'Casa da Paderna'. That's our house. Ring the bell on Number 4.
