My extended family and I (5 of us) stayed at Quinta Elena in August 2014 and I can thoroughly recommend the property. It was well equipped, well maintained, spacious, and well located being just 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of Funchal. We had a great week in Funchal at Quinta Elena. It's a lovely house with plenty of space for four adults; all the rooms are a good size. There are good outdoor areas with the garden and terraces (the upper one has lovely views towards the mountains with sunrises). It's very comfortable with everything you need for a restful break....

The above rates are in Pounds Sterling and include being met at the airport and taken by taxi to the house at the owners expense(but not in reverse).

. If extra single beds are used there will be a supplementary linen charge of £30 per bed. Extra days over one week are charged on a pro-rata basis. The house will sleep up to a maximum of six people with the use of the adult sized day bed in the top room. Extra people are charged at £75 per person per week but the rental rates for 4 people are clearly displayed in the panel above. Easter Weeks are subject to a 10% supplement. The house is not considered suitable for young children but well behaved older children are very welcome in our house. It is also a non smoking house. About the neighbourhood
There are many festivals in Funchal - the main ones are the carnival held every year in February and the flower festival held in April. The tourist office in the centre of town would provide in detail all the places to go to and a list of what´s on. A very good day out is the ferry crossing to the Island of Porto Santo(you can fly there if you wish). Here is a rather dry Island and rather backward but it´s redeeming feature is the fantastic sandy beach that is many miles long. Tasting the Madeiran Wine is always a treat in store for visitors. <BR><BR>There are, of course, many amazing gardens to visit on the Island and most of these are a short bus bus ride away. Many airlines fly to Madeira. It is not expensive to fly and the flight usually takes a little over 3 hours. Here is a selection of airlines - First Choice - Easyjet - Thomson - TAP. Most of these fly from London Gatwick but there are many flights available from the regional airports in England. One such airline is Palmair which operates out of Bournemouth(Hurn) airport. Special 15% discount for any available week up to May 31st 2012<BR><BR>A taxi will meet you at the airport and take you to the house at our expense(but not in reverse).<BR><BR>Car hire can be arranged at an office near to our house.
