Villa Eleftherna is a superb rural hideaway, set in an area of magnificent natural beauty, located in the homonym picturesque village of Rethymno. Nestling on a quiet lane in the village, Villa Eleftherna is more than a country cottage or a holiday villa. Built on the highest spot of the village, it offers breathtaking views on the Cretan Sea, Mountain 'Psiloritis' and the whole area. Private but not remote, Villa Eleftherna is next to the village square, where you can find traditional taverns, cafes and a mini-market.

Perfect vacation
We have stayed at this villa four times now, and each time it gets even better. The villa is gorgeously kept, the beds are super comfortable, it's quiet and peaceful. Really the ultimate place to relax. The family are so warm and welcoming, and the grounds are immaculately maintained. A very, very high recommend.

Holiday like home
In the meantime it was our 6th stay at Villa Eleftherna and what shall we say? It was again a pleasure and a fantastic experience to have 2 full weeks to recharge our batteries. The house is maintained in such a beautiful way on a daily basis by Giorgos. He keeps an eye on every detail, delivers fresh eggs when needed, and gives us also a refill from his lovely-tasting Raki and Wine. The owners are already like a family to us, and we look forward to our next stay in July 2024.

prachtige luxe villa, zeer compleet
Prachtige grote, luxe, schone villa met zeer fraaie tuin, groot zwembad, bbq en pizza oven. Keuken van alle gemakken voorzien. Ook eerste voorzieningen allemaal aanwezig. Internet goed. Ligging op een berg, dus auto is vereist. Mooi uitzicht, met name ook 's avonds een mooie zonsondergang. Leuke taverna op paar minuten lopen, kleine supermarkt is aanwezig.
Rij-afstand naar grote plaats ongeveer 30 minuten.
Eigenaren onderhouden tuin en villa.
Nog nooit zo'n complete villa/huis bezocht met zulke goede service.

Wonderful stay
This year we spent our vacation at Villa Eleftherna for the 4th time, that should say more than anything else. We feel so comfortable here that we just love to come back again and again. The owners of the house treat us like family and we really appreciate that. We were the first who rented the house and always enjoyed our stay to the full. We appreciate this peace and seclusion. This year we had the pool heated for the first time and that was brilliant, we love warm water and our daughter didn't want to leave the pool at all. Speaking of our daughter, on the day we planned to leave, our daughter fell ill and we were therefore unable to take the flight home. We were lucky that the house was still free and stayed 5 days later until the next possible flight back. Everyone was super nice and helpful and everything went very easily and so we were able to take a few more days of vacation. We will come back for sure. Thanks for everything!

Fantastic villa, great host
Really enjoyed our time in this villa. It was well laid out and had everything we needed from dishwasher tablets to a pump for the pool inflatables. Great views from high up in the village and two local tavernas a stones throw away. Would throughly recommend, the host George could not do enough to help us and his olive oil is fantastic!

Beautiful Villa, Perfect Hosts, Wonderful Holiday
After the Covid lockdown we chose Greece and Villa Elétherna for a quiet, peaceful family holiday, four adults, two children 3 and 7, and were so pleased we did. Everything about our trip to Crete was perfect from start to finish. The Villa is immaculate and even more special than the description, above a lovely village with views of sea and hills and the moon sinking over the hills. Mr. Giorgos's garden is a piece of art, and he and wife are among the nicest people you will meet anywhere, and their sons manage the Villa and answer every need. On arrival, the Giorgos gave us a cornucopia of fruit and vegetables from their gardens along with the family wine and olive oil and honey, which they also sent us away with when we left. The pool is perfect and private and we spent alternate days at the beach and at home. The museum in Elétherna is incredible and the village friendly and relaxed and a few minutes' walk to the taverna. We often had food delivered to the house. We loved the trip and Villa so much we booked it for next year before we left. Thank you so much. John and Hannah

Lovely Villa on a hill
This is the best villa we’ve ever stayed at in all of our travels. We were greeted upon arrival and given a thorough tour of the premises and welcomed with gifts of fresh fruit and olive oil, honey, wine and rail made all made by our hosts.
We rented a car and this was required at this location. However, during our 9-day stay, we were perfectly happy to spend some days at the villa with a short walk to town for lunch.
Blow dryer, shampoo and body wash was provided, pool and bath towels, dishwasher soap and a rack for drying laundry (no clothes dryer, just a washing machine).
We made use of the herbs in the garden (basil and rosemary) as well as limes from the tree in the yard. We also cooked at the villa every day, using the bbq as well as the oven and stovetop. Everything was in excellent working order and the kitchen was very well equipped.
We really enjoyed the pool and had some fun games of volleyball. In October, we founded that even with highs up to 29 degrees, it started cooling down at about 4:00 pm.
We highly recommend Villa Eleftherna.

Perfect site
Friendly,clean, wonderful Support. We Spend one Week in a wonderful athmospere. Swimmingpool and ancient Environment with new MUSEUM, Perfect Designer. We enkoyed it so much.Thank you!

3rd time we've stayed at Villa Eleftherna
We've stayed at Villa Eleftherna for three summers in a row now, and this summer was probably the best of them all. The villa itself is utterly gorgeous, and the setting is so peaceful and quiet. We had our own children there, and invited friends with their kids, and there was plenty of room for everyone. Kostas and his family are wonderfully warm people; they really make you feel so welcome. It's impossible for us to recommend this place any more highly - just fantastic. If you are on the fence, book! You won't regret it.

All could could want for a relaxing break
Our flights from Gatwick were delayed but we were met on arrival at 1.00 am at the villa, by a very cheerful John. He showed us around and made us feel very welcome.
The villa was spotless & the garden well maintained and we found everything we needed. There was a lovely basket of fresh fruits, along with home produced honey, olive oil, Raiki etc which was lovely.
The Vasilakis family made us so welcome when they popped in to clean the pool and water the garden. We would definitely recommend this villa for anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing break. It was in a lovely position in the village and we enjoyed BBQ’s and watching the sunset whilst having dinner on the terrace.
Arkadi Monastery was worth a visit, or a drive up into the mountains was lovely however, be warned some roads are just dirt tracks! Beware of satnav shortcuts!
The service and friendly emails etc from Kostas and his team at Etouri made this rental a very pleasant experience, it was great knowing that we had contact with Etouri 24/7 if needed with the direct phone link from the villa. The only downside was that we only booked me week!
All in all a wonderful week was enjoyed by our family and we would use your service again if we return to Greece in the future.

About the neighbourhood
Our villa is located in central Crete in Eleftherna village giving you the advantage to combine mountain and sea. You can make a tour of the villages around or visit some of the most well known beaches on the north coast. The village of Eleftherna is well known because of the archaeological site of Ancient Eleftherna and has about 400 inhabitants today. The surrounding area is quiet, a place where you can relax and feel “away from it all”. The village has one traditional tavern, a few traditional cafes and a mini market!
Given the location of the village and the landscape, there are numerous attractive hiking and cycling routes. The European path E4 crosses the village and passes through behind the building. The villa provides 4 mountain bicycles and light hiking equipment (batons) for free. Visitors can also easily explore the archaeological site of ancient Eleftherna (which is a stone-throw away), Arkadi (7km away), Margarites (6km) the cave of Melidoni (22km away), Zoniana (32km away), Anogia (37km away).
The owner of the villa, George Vasilakis, is an experienced member of the Climbing Club of Rethymno and he will be glad to help with any relevant information on beautiful scenic routes and paths you can walk, ride on the bikes or drive. If you are lucky enough, your stay may coincide with one of the guided trips the Climbing Club organizes around the island (you can participate after arrangement). For the adventure-seekers, you will be given the necessary information when you arrive!

The Villa is located in Eleftherna village. Eleftherna is a village with life and it has some traditional cafeterias and a few taverns where they also offer nice breakfast and a mini market.
The village of Eleftherna is well known because of the archaeological site and the newly built museum of Ancient Eleftherna.
