Perfect stay!
We had the best experience at Villa Mary that you could imagine. We were a family of 10 - 6 adults and 4 children (7-14). There were enough bedrooms for everyone and enough bathrooms that there was no waiting. The villa was spotless. The property had everything. The sports areas were fitted out beautifully with nets and balls of every description. The pool was priceless for our entire family. We survived the heat daily by being able to jump in the pool. The location in Rethymno was great - right in between Chania and Heraklion. It made visiting each city easy. The owners son, Antonis, is your contact. He met us upon arrival with keys and information. He responded quickly to our questions. We invited 9 relatives who live on Crete to the Villa for dinner. The owner and his wife, Stelios and Maria, cooked a feast for us! He has a vegetable garden on the property and a farm behind the property. The food was superb. He was delighted to share his love of cooking and ingredients from his garden and farm with all 19 of us. In the villa is a brochure with meal selection if you want dinner cooked by Stelios and Maria. We enthusiastically encourage you to to try at least one night during your stay.
Additionally, the rental management company Etouri is wonderful to deal with. Very responsive to all inquiries. I will stay at any of their properties. Five stars!

Return to Villa Mary
We last visited Villa Mary in 2020 and were so disappointed when we were not allowed to visit in 2021 due to Covid rules (Etouri who we booked through were brilliant in extending our cancellation period until the last minute) so we were thrilled to be back in 2022. We are 2 families in a group of 8. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the villa owners Stelios and Maria and were given some delicious food. We cannot speak highly enough of this lovely couple. With patience and the help of an iPhone we were able to communicate ( with the help of their son Antonis also when needed) and we so enjoyed their company and hospitality which contributed so much to our holiday. Maria and Stelios cooked meals for us on 2 occasions and everything is fresh and delicious. We learnt so much about Crete past and present from them and had many laughs (and drinks) with them (and yes Stelios your wine is better !) and we were very sad to say goodbye when we left.
The villa facilities suit our active families and we made full use of the volleyball and football courts pool table and the lovely pool. The beds are comfortable, air con is efficient and the cleaners came 3 times doing a great job. The villa is equipped with pretty much everything you can need. When we told Antonis the sandwich maker was broken it was replaced by a brand new one the same day !
The Villa is situated opposite a supermarket which is very convenient and there is a Lidl a short drive away for a large shop. We walked down to Pigi daily for coffee and did day to day shops for fresh produce down there in order to support the local shops. As you turn off the main road down to Pigi centre there is a tiny shop on the right run by a delightful lady where we bought daily bread and cakes and also eggs honey and oil and on one occasion lamb chops and sausages which we barbecued. Quality was amazing and she often gave us biscuits and fruit to try and on our last day a bottle of Raki. Just another example of the kindness of the Cretan people.
Etouri were brilliant in organising things for us including a complimentary visit to Baja beach club where we had great fun despite the torrents of rain that day.
We loved our stay and will be back again in the future

Brilliant holiday
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this well equipped villa. Minor concerns were quickly dealt with by the owners son. The owners themselves were very kind and hospitable. We were lucky enough to see their son treading the grapes for their own wine and were invited to watch them make cheese which unfortunately we missed as we were delayed at a restaurant. They Kindly supplied us with plates of their delicious cooking and we arranged for them to cook for us one evening at a very reasonable cost. I would highly recommend this - the wood fired lamb was superb as were all the accompaniments. Pigi itself is charming and we ate 3 times at the most local taverna just down the road and enjoyed coffee in the mornings in the square in Pigi. Although we initially bought some supplies at the local Lidl we discovered that the mini market in Pigi was well stocked and so we preferred to shop there in order to support the local small businesses. The butchers was also very good. Etouri, the villa management company, were absolutely excellent and were most helpful recommending and booking restaurants and activities. Through them we visited Baja beach club and Baboo beach club and had amazing times at both. We also really enjoyed the jet ski safari. We have already booked again for next year!

Fun house for 2 families with teenage boys!
This house is perfect for a couple of families with slightly older children. The layout is excellent, facilities good and the pool and baketball are exceptional. The owner is very kind and brought us fresh fruit and vegetables. The location is ideal and walking distance from the village of Pigi with good tavenernas. It is also a 5 mins drive from the beach. Honestly, we all absolutely loved it!

Amazing villa! Great for families!Fantastic!
The villa is spacious and very homely with plenty of room for large groups or families but with space and privacy.
The owners are so lovely and hospitable.We had fresh fruit,wine,raki and they bought cooked food for us to try,they were so kind
The villa has a huge pool,a child's pool and a jacuzzi.There is a basket ball court,football pitch,pool table and table tennis,as well as a volley ball net.
There is so much to do with out even going out anywhere!
It is a short car ride to Rethymno which is a must visit,especially the Old Town.
Lots of restaurants and bars there,we also enjoyed Armos,a restaurant locally which is well worth a visit,the views are great
Best villa we have stayed in,would definitely recommend

Perfect villa for family groups
We had a perfect holiday in a wonderful villa with lovely hosts, Stelios and Maria. The hosts were on hand if we needed anything but left us to our own devices and had the typical Cretan generosity and warmth. The villa was huge, with separate floors allowing everyone space as needed and, as each floor had its own kitchen, groups could also be self sufficient.
Outdoor space was vast with a lovely huge pool, deep enough to dive in; there was also football pitch, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and pool - something for everyone. The bedrooms were really comfortable and spacious with lots of storage - the kitchens were exceptionally well equipped.
We had dinner cooked by the hosts in the small taverna as it was windy so we couldn't eat in the garden. Lovely - a fun experience we would recommend and amazing value.
If you're wondering about booking, just do it. It's wonderful.

Great holiday
I celebrated my wedding in Crete with my family and friends. For my parents i booked Vila Mary, and all that i can say is: Wonderful.
We had a great week and the Villa is beautiful.

Super Villa mit vielen Sportmöglichkeiten
Wir waren 6 Personen für 11 Tage im September 2018 in der tollen Villa. Ganz herzlichen Dank den Besitzern Stelios und Maria für Ihre schöne Begrüssung mit den leckeren Speisen und die zuvorkommende Betreuung. Das Haus mit den zwei Wohnungen mit eigener Küche ist einfach super! Wir haben die drei Essplätze im freien zum frühstücken und am Abend zum grillieren immer benutzt. Langeweile kommt auf diesen schönen, gepflegten und sehr grossen Grundstück nie auf. Wir haben mit Volley-Basketball,Tschtennis und Billiard spannende Matches miteinander gespielt. Zum Faulenzen gab es sehr bequeme Pooliegen und zum schwimmen war der grosse Pool herrlich. Wir hatten die ganze Zeit ein Mietauto für den nahen Strand (ca.8.Min) fahrt nach Rethymnon(ca.18Min) oder für Ausflug in den Süden der Insel. Das Haus eignet sich bestens für 2Familien, oder einer Gruppe Freunde, die ihre Ferien ruhig mit guter Privatsphäre in einem Haus mit grossem Umschwung und super Unterhaltungs möglichkeiten verbringen wollen. Wir hatten alle hatten eine herrliche Ferienzeit und werden sicher wieder einmal die Villa Mary besuchen. Auf bald!! JAMAS

Relaxing stay with all the amenities you need.
Great House, we've been 8 people and all had what they need. A small Gym, a big pool, nice treasse to have breakfast, basketball, volleyball and a small soccer court.
Nice area, not to far from the beach and/or supermarket (~10min by car).
The house is clean, well equipped and the owner couple is really friendly.

Lovely villa
Booked online liaised with the Etouri team Kostas and Sophia who were excellent throughout our stay.
The villa is split into two villa's basically, with a basement downstairs, we were a party of thirteen and easily lived as one big group. Everything in the villa was perfect, the same as the outside - grounds, football pitch, basketball pitch, table tennis, the pool area and large deep pool. We were informed we had to pay for the jacuzzi so offered to pay but was told is was not working.
The owner has a small place onsite where he lives and 'patrols sometimes' the first week he was moaning all the time about kids jumping in pool, turning lights off, turn air conditioning down and off, he even told us to leave and go to beach on the second day. We even found him opening the front door villa just as we were leaving for the day and told him not to go in as there was a family still asleep inside but still let himself in.
The first day we was there the upstairs door closed shut due to the wind and keys were inside so we could not get in due to there been no handle on the outside. We told the owner who went crazy and started shouting at us, he had to get a locksmith out and billed us for it at €30 tip-keep the with you or put it in the outside lock so you can get back in. Apparently this happens all the time but was never told on arrival.
The pizza oven and the gym are not in the villa grounds they are around the owners house area.
Pigi is the nearest small village about 15 minutes walk, it has a small supermarket, bakers and butchers where the lovely lady butcher feeds you Raki. There is also a bar and a restaurant.
Car is essential to get around as taxis are quite expensive.
Bali beach is lovely area about half hour away as well as baja beach which is great.
Rethymno has good bars and eating places, the old town is lovely too.
Fantastiko is a tavern up in the mountains where you can watch the sunset and enjoy the breathtaking views which is definitely a must.
The island Crete is beautiful as is the people just the owner was a little let down for us but well worth a stay.

First of all thank you for your good words about our services and the villa facilities.
I felt that I have to apologise about the owner behaviour.
As you can see from the past reviews, he is not the kind of host that you are describing in your review. He is actually the opposite. I manage this villa for more than 4 years now and he was always helpful and kind with our guests.
Speaking with both sides, I realised that because of the bad English that the owner speaks, a misunderstanding created between both sides and then everything went wrong.
Also I have to admit that the owner was a little more overprotected with his house because of the recent renovation.
In any case, I have to mention that it was a rare incident which finally ended without to effect your holidays.
Again sorry for his behaviour that day and the misunderstanding between you and the owner.

Our villa is located 5km south from the north coast of Rethymno, between the villages of Pigi and Loutra. Also, Rethymno old town is just 10 km by car.
The nearest shops and mini markets are within a short walking distance from the Villa, approximately 1 km away. Also, meals can be provided upon request from the owners' taverna next to the Villa!
The location gives you the advantage of staying outside a quiet village and be close to the living areas and the beach at the same time! Platanias and Adelianos Kampos, which are 5 km away, are well known tourist areas where you can find beach bars, restaurants, taverns, shops and super markets.
