Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Highly recommended - superb
The stay at Fairydean Mill was perfect for our family. The hosts are so nice and helpful and the place is located in beautiful calm and peaceful surroundings. The breakfast was also splendid. There is a possibility to order cooked breakfast, which was delicious. Benedict Royal is a must! We would definitely come back if we need a place to stay in the Borders again in the future. Highly recommend!

Superb
What a find! This is such a lovely place to stay. We had a 2 night break and my word we certainly had a fantastic break. I can’t stress enough the hospitality of David and Mandi, they were so welcoming-and the food? wow absolutely delicious. Home made cakes on arrival and the most sumptuous breakfasts and what a choice. The fresh fruit salad was to die for. The little things mean a lot and they were in abundance even down to beautiful fresh flowers in the bedrooms. An ideal spot to tour the Borders but such lovely walks on the doorstep too. Molly, our cocker spaniel loved it. Thank you David and Mandi for being so kind.

Perfect dog friendly stay
We had a lovely stay at Fairydean B&B, David & Mandi are superb hosts and really made us welcome. Our dog was spoilt rotten and really felt at home here, the breakfast and the rooms were fantastic. A real home from home that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet break, one of the nicest places I have stayed in. Thank you David & Mandi

Everything was perfect
We had a lovely, comfortable stay with out dog for 5 days. We couldn't have asked for more - the food was delicious, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great. The hosts made sure we were well fed, even though we have awkward diets. We would love to stay again.

The best. Would highly recommend.
The best. A real pet friendly find nestling in a secluded woodland setting just outside Peebles in the Borders. Home from home. We were welcomed with tea and fresh cakes, a welcome that continued throughout by Mandi and David. Fresh fruit, daily cooked bread with breakfast made to order was a great start to the day. Would go back and highly recommend to others.

Perfect place to relax
What a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. We booked the Tree Top Suite which has 2 bedrooms & sitting areas with views over the surrounding gardens. Breakfast was delicious with something to suit everyone as were the gorgeous cupcakes we had on arrival. The hosts, Mandi & David, made us so welcome, especially our dog!! It feels like a home away from home. We will definitely be back :)

About the neighbourhood
Covering about eighteen hundred square miles, the Scottish Borders stretches from the rolling hills and moorland in the west, through gentler valleys to the high agricultural plains of the east, and on to the rocky Berwickshire coastline with its secluded coves and picturesque fishing villages. In the bright spring months, fresh new growth fills the valleys and forests of the Scottish Borders. Enjoy time to spare with the lure of lighter longer summer days or relax in more mellow shades of autumn when mauves and purples tint the moors. Crunch through the crisp frosts of winter, when early morning mist floats over the lowlands, and the snow capped hills sparkle in the distance. Land and sea, hills and moorland all sit happily side by side. Rivers and paths wind their way through untouched natural beauty whilst the more gentle pace of life subtly relaxes and revives you. Seasonal changes await to delight, every day at every turn. The Scottish Borders is truly a destination for all seasons! Edinburgh - bus service available every forty minutes from Eddleston Enjoy a vast variety of things to see and do in Edinburgh and the Lothians and fill your perfect break with trips to castles and distilleries, country parks and excellent restaurants. Edinburgh hosts a number of exciting events all year. Take part in some of the revelry from ceilidhs and rugby games to the spectacular Military Tattoo and world-famous Hogmanay celebrations. You can enjoy a wide variety of attractions in Edinburgh that are absolutely free. From museums and art galleries to gardens and events, these top attractions provide hours of entertainment without breaking the bank.
