Villa
Villa Fumone was built in 1980 and completely refurbished as well as extended in 2002 by the current owners. The 250sqm home is set in a quiet, secluded as well as renowned development - Urbanizacao "Serra e Mar". Today, this development, started in the 1970's and located 5km behind the beach in the Western Algarve (Portimão), is very green and exclusive. The plot measures 1'800 square meters and is completely fenced in. Villa Fumone is orientated South and West for our guests to enjoy the new overflow pool as well as the large terra cotta terrace allowing for al fresco dining. The home is ideally located for golf players - strategically placed between the Penina Championship course as well as Morgado and Alamos Golf Courses. Large comfortable villa in quiet neighbourhood.
We stayed at the villa on and off for 6 months. It is well maintained, comfortable with a nice pool. By car it is within easy reach of the beautiful beaches, shops and restaurants. The landscaping is very nice. It is a perfect holiday home for family and groups of friends up to 8 persons.

Perfect spot to enjoy Algarve and tranquility
The villa was amazing! My friends and I had a wonderful time there. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can cook whatever you want and for many people. The garden is full of beautiful plants and trees and the really large pool is really enjoyable to avoid the heat. Communication with Peter was perfect before and during our stay in Portugal. He is really nice and made everything easier for our arrival. The location of the villa is perfect, isolated enough to enjoy the tranquility but close enough to all the splendid spots of the Algarve. Don't hesitate to book, you'll have a wonderful time as we did :)

beautiful house with clean pool, feel like home
We spend at villa amazing week. Everything work well. We were travelling around - there are so many beautiful places! We were 8 persons, there was lot of space for each of us, villa is pretty well furnished and maintained.

Sehr schöne Ferienvilla mit viel Platz und tollen Garten; liebevoll eingerichtet sodass man sich direkt wohlfühlen kann. Wir waren dort für zwei Wochen mit drei Erwachsenen und fünf Kindern und hatten eine tolle Zeit.
Egal ob man drinnen oder draußen essen möchte, man hat einen großen Tisch mit acht Stühlen, mehr als genug Geschirr ist vorhanden, für draußen noch ein Gasgrill.
Der Pool ist groß genug um auch ein kleines bisschen schwimmen zu können (ca. 10 Meter lang), es stehen genug Liegestühle und Sonnenschirme zur Verfügung. Man hat den Pool vom großen Tisch draussen gut im Blick sodass man nach dem Frühstück noch in Ruhe sitzen und einen Tee trinken kann und die Kinder dabei im Pool spielen können.
Der Vermieter und die Hausverwalterin sind sehr nett und stehen einen für Fragen oder Tipps gerne zur Verfügung.

Herzlichen Dank für die lieben Zeilen. Barbara und ich sind froh, dass Ihr eine gute und erholsame Zeit in unsere Haus verbringen konntet.
Danke dass Ihr bei uns den Urlaub verbracht habt und wir würden uns sehr freuen, Euch in Zukunft wieder einmal bei uns willkommen heissen zu dürfen. Gerne stehen wir auch Freunden und Bekannten jederzeit mit Ratschlägen zur Verfügung.
Wir haben selber 7 Jahre in Portugal gelebt und es freut uns immer sehr, wenn es unseren Gäste in diesem sehr schönen und herzlichen Land gefällt.

Well located, spacious and very well equipped villa.
My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful 4 week stay at Villa Fumone, situated on a very secluded, quiet and private estate close to Mexilhoeira Grande on the outskirts of Portimao.
We organised our rental directly with Peter who is a very professional person and who provided us with excellent customer service both while booking and during our stay. The same has to be said for his friendly house keeper Suzel.
As experienced, independent villa renters we appreciate our own space while on holiday but it was comforting to know that if we needed anything Suzel was just a text, phone call or e-mail away. Suzel has very good local knowledge so when we requested fire wood for the wood burner Suzel arranged this and had it delivered for us.
Being a winter let we found that we could maintain a comfortable, cosy feel to the villa just by using the wood burner but there is also the availability of gas fired central heating (at an additional cost) for those who may want it; Peter really has thought of everything! The villa is very well equipped and everything we used worked very well.
Overall we found this villa comfortable, cosy, very well equipped and the owner and his housekeeper provided excellent customer service in a professional manner,10/10 all round!

Excellent Family Stay in Beautiful Villa
This lovely traditional villa with a beautiful pool and gardens, which is not overlooked, is on an established development of high quality villas just a few minutes drive from Alvor.
Booking was easy and Peter John answered all our questions promptly. We stayed for a week in June, a total of seven members of the family, ranging from 82 years old to 4 years old.
We were met by Suzel, who only lives a short distance away. She showed us around the villa and was available if required to answer questions and help out if needed throughout our stay.
Inside, the villa was well decorated and very clean. It was well furnished, everything worked. The kitchen/diner was well equipped with appliances and crockery etc. The main bedroom was large and airy with plenty of wardrobe space and a large bathroom/shower room ensuite.
The living room was spacious and provided different seating areas. The covered area outside, which included a large dining table, was excellent for shade whilst having a good view of the garden and swimming pool. There were plenty of sun loungers and outside chairs.
The villa and its gardens are surrounded by fencing and there is an electric gate on entry to the drive.
Whilst it is an easy drive to Alvor, Portimao and Lagos there are a couple of good restaurants within a very short distance, Fonte de Pedra and Solar de Farelo.
A lovely holiday in a lovely villa for an excellent price. We would certainly stay there again.

La classe!
Nous avons séjourné dans la Villa Fumone 2 semaines à 4 adultes et 4 enfants. Nous avons été enchantés par le calme, le jardin luxuriant, la piscine toujours entretenue et les agréments de cette maison typique! Proche de tout et parfait point de départ pour rayonner autour de Lagos et Portimao. Une vraie bonne expérience.
Pour couronner le tout, je salue le grand professionnalisme de Peter, notre hôte, qui a su nous mettre dans les meilleures dispositions à toutes les étapes de la location. Nous y reviendrons un jour, assurément! Merci Peter!

Absolutely fantastic
We stayed there from December 2021 until End of March 2022. The house is fantastic, the garden a dream, the caretaker an angel and the landlord always there to help. We had a wonderful calm stay - heating was good, enough warm water to shower and taking a bath easily, everything you wish for in the kitchen. An absolute pleasant experience.

About the neighbourhood
Serra e Mar - this is the name of the development started in the 70s and today one of the most prestigious living areas on the South Coast of Portugal - the Algarve. Serra e Mar (be careful: there is a second development with literally the SAME name in Alvor which is not comparable) is nestled in the back lands behind the busy town of Portimão - convenient for shopping, restaurants and night life - but far enough, to make you enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Serra e Mar has stayed exclusive because building plots were requested to have minimum size, the homes had to respect a maximum size compared to the land and the homes could not be built over various stories. You will find a lot of green and no town houses. Golf is close - behind Serra e Mar you will find the Morgado and Altos Golf Clubs - in front of Serra e Mar, in direction of the Ocean, you will pass Penina Championship Golf on the way to Portimão or the beach.
Getting around
To spend a relaxing holiday, we definitely recommend you rent a car. Without car rental, even if the distances are not huge, you will have great difficulties to shop and to get anywhere.

How to get there
We suggest you either fly to Lisbon or to Faro. Considering a rent-a-car is almost necessary, whether you fly to Lisbon or Faro does not make a huge difference on the car rental but, you get a chance to include the visit of the Portuguese capital. Why not include a night or two on the way in or out? A wonderful and charming city to visit. If you need help with finding a hotel - we will try to assist. The Algarve is roughly a three hours drive from Lisbon. If you have some time, take one way over the main highway and drive back along the coast - or vice versa.While in the Algarve, you should try to visit different beaches - from Portimâo westwards, you can find many small beaches hidden in the rocky coast line. Whilst in the Algarve, a visit to Seville might be the thing to do. It is a two hour`s drive from Portimâo. Do not miss the visit of Monchique, just behind Portimão and located on the top of the hills, dividing the Algarve from the Alentejo. If you get up there on a clear day, the views are absolutely spectacular.
