Annie's Place - a recently restored property on the short term rental market. Annie's Place is a quaint townhouse, built over 300 years ago, with features such as a Classical Norman Arch dating back to over 500 years ago. Located in the heart of the Medieval walled city of Mdina, Annie's place has been renovated to the highest standards, whilst retaining its original features. The result is a characterful and charming home ideal for 2-3 guests.
Living in Mdina is comparable to residing in an open air museum. It is a perfect location for those who enjoy culture and for those who would truly like to experience residing in this small but magnificent city steeped in history where everything is within walking distance. Living in Mdina is comparable to residing in an open air museum. It is a perfect location for those who enjoy culture and for those who would truly like to experience residing in this small but magnificent city steeped in history where everything is within walking distance. It is important to stress that we are actually situated WITHIN the city of Mdina (not outside Mdina, nor the outer limits of Mdina, or other towns/cities such as Rabat, Mtarfa, Bahrija etc.). Our location in the 'Silent City' of Mdina is unrivalled compared to many other available properties that advertise themselves as being in Mdina whilst being located outside of the city walls.
Annie's Place is a property that has been recently renovated with modern furnishings. The final result is a very comfortable property that can easily host 2 to 3 guests both in the Summer and Winter months. For potential guest's convenience, here is a general description of the layout of the house.
The Entrance Hall and Living Room consists of 2 large and comfortable sofas (one of which is a sofa bed), and a lounge chair. In a chest of drawers, we provide numerous books, maps and touristic information that all guests to Mdina will find useful. The antiporta is this room means that one can guarantee sunshine, whilst still ensuring that one's privacy is respected.
Near to the living room is the bathroom of the apartment. Consisting of a W.C., sink and shower, as well as a washing machine. PLEASE NOTE - given space restrictions, a smaller than we would have liked water heater had to be installed. Therefore, guests should avoid taking immediate successive showers and wait 20-30 minutes in order for the water heater to heat up once again. A slight inconvenience, but necessary given the constrains of renovating such an old property.
This room leads to the kitchen and dining room, with comfortable seating for 4 people. The kitchen is furnished with a microwave, separate hobs and oven, toaster, fridge, kettle etc.
From the kitchen, one then proceeds to the bedroom. Within the bedroom there is a small study area, where a cosy desk is situated. This is an ideal place to read and relax. It is also the epitome of a laptop-friendly work area.
Should any guest require anything in particular - please let us know. We live close-by and will do our best to help. Myself or a member of my family will be available to welcome the guests to the property. We can meet you in Mdina and show you the way to the house and give you a short tour of the house and Mdina should you desire. We consider ourselves accommodating and will do our best to ensure that your stay is comfortable. For any issue that emerges - please feel encouraged to contact us. We are also similarly available should you need any information regarding what to see and do on our beautiful island.
Overall Malta is a stunning country to visit with a little bit of everything to offer. You won't regret your stay here and we guarantee your time spent in the Medieval gem that is Mdina will be a pleasurable one. Mdina is a remarkable city that deserves to be visited at the very least. The opportunity to base yourself here during your stay is one that should be grasped.
Environmental Contribution Payment - The Government of Malta has recently introduced a charge that is liable on all guests staying at all types of accommodation. All revenue generated from this initiative will be directed solely and exclusively to upgrade and embellish the local infrastructure in touristic areas around the Maltese Islands. The contribution is payable by all tourists/guests who are 18 years or older on the day of arrival. It amounts to €0.50c per person for each night spent at our accommodation. The contribution is capped at a maximum of €5 for each continuous stay. We are obliged to collect this contribution and then pass it onto the Government. An official and government-issued ‘Notice to Guests’ will be available at the property that further explains the environmental contribution and the reason for this charge. The exact sum due will be determined during your stay, and I once again apologise for the inconvenience.
Mdina is a quiet town, affectionately referred to as the Silent City.
Thus, our home is not the ideal location for large scale parties.
Additionally, please be reasonable in your usage of electricity and hot water. Unlike other rentals, these costs are incorporated (as opposed to added on at the end of your stay) in the rental price of our property. Thus, we would very much appreciate cooperation in this regard from all future guests.
My mother and I were very happy with our 4 night stay at Annie's Place in February. Joanna who hosted us was so friendly and accommodating, and was available to help and assist us within minutes when we had trouble with our key. The location...More
This is the first review which has caused me some indecision in how to make it fair and balanced as I wish to inform other people considering staying here of some small but relevant issues.

Annie's Place is right in the historical center of Mdina that is in the historical center of Malta. You cannot get more close to the center of it all than this magical, amazing place. The 1-bedroom apartment is a typical medieval townhouse with stone walls...More
Stepping into Annie's Place really is like stepping into the past, complete with the centuries old walls and the near perfect silence, interrupted only by the sound of the occasional horse-drawn carriage and the church bell. For those who can't survive without the modern amenities,...More
We spent 10 days in Malta, based out of Annie's Place in Mdina. Wonderful place and location, though if you intend on renting a car for your holiday you need to be warned that you need a special permit to be able to enter Mdina...More
My fiancé and I stayed in Annie's place and would recommend it to anyone who's looking to get away from the busy city environment. Coming from the busy (and overpopulated) city of Singapore, we were in Malta for a wedding and decided to visit and...More

Mdina is situated in the north west of the island of Malta. The property itself is situated in the historical treasure that is the Medieval city of Mdina. Particular highlights in Mdina include the Natural History Museum, the Carmelite Church, Palazzo Falzon, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Cathedral Museum, the Mdina Experience, Mdina Dungeons and the Banca Giuratale. A variety of cafes, wine bars, restaurants and museums are within walking distance from the property. Mdina is also extremely close to the delightful town of Rabat which can also boast of its own attractions. Our home can be used as base to visit most sites in Malta such as Valletta, the Three Cities, Marsaxlokk, Sliema, St. Julian's, Rabat, Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples etc.
:Malta is a small country. Short distances need to be covered by the average tourist. All major sites in Malta are close by. All major sites in Mdina and the surrounding areas are in walking distance from each other. Given that Mdina is a tourist must-see, it is a major hub for the local bus system and most routes pass through Mdina. Mdina is also well linked through public transport with many other top sites and visiting other spots on the island will not be a problem.Taxis also congregate close to Mdina.Should you rent a car, there is ample public parking right outside Mdina. Only permanent residents are allowed to park in Mdina, however we might be able to obtain a parking parking permit.
