The Mill House has been renovated to a very high standard with many original features retained and has been awarded the VisitEngland five star and Gold awards since 2009. The Mill House was also awarded the VisitEngland ROSE Award 2022 in recognition of Service Excellence. The property is a comfortable, well equipped, spacious home from home for families/friends holidaying or celebrating a special occasion together. The house is centrally heated and has a combination of fitted carpets, rugs, stone and wooden floors and almost all the rooms have open rural views.
The property benefits from a beautiful handmade kitchen with AGA and accommodates up to 12 guests in four double rooms with king sized beds (one with four poster bed) and two twin rooms (one with full sized bunk beds and one ground floor bedroom with two single beds) with three bathrooms (one family bathroom with corner bath and shower cubicle, one bathroom with roll top bath and one downstairs bathroom with shower cubicle). There is an elegant sitting room with an open fireplace, grand piano, stereo system and comfortable seating and a snug sitting room with sofa, chairs and bean bags, a wood burning stove, Smart TV, DVD player (please bring your own DVDs) and a selection of family games, children’s toys and books. The dining room with views over the garden is furnished with solid oak furniture and also has a wood burning stove.
The Mill House is surrounded by large, private and enclosed gardens with mature shrubs, trees and large lawned areas. There is a patio area with garden furniture and a gas BBQ for guests’ use. There is ample parking to the rear of the property.
Our changeover day is usually a Saturday arriving at 4 pm and departing by 10 am, however, outside the summer months, we are happy to accept short breaks and can be flexible with regards to arrival and departure. A Welcome pack is provided on arrival, there are hairdryers in every bedroom and Wifi is free of charge.

The perfect holiday house. Spotlessly clean, excellent location - 10 minute walk to beach, village shop and pub. Well equipped with everything needed for a family holiday (even toys and games for toddlers).

A fabulous house in a wonderful location and perfect for a family holiday!
We had a fabulous holiday at “The Mill House”. It’s spacious, clean, comfortable and homely, suitable for all ages from 4 months to senior citizens. Everyone had their own “space” if and when they needed it. The more energetic members of the extended family enjoyed early morning runs along the cliff tops with breathtaking views whilst those of us remaining prepared breakfast to be enjoyed in the garden. The house has everything needed for rustling up delicious meals, including barbecues, that can all be savoured outside in the wonderful Isle of Wight climate. The children simply loved playing games in the large garden after returning from the beach - our favourite was Compton Bay. Fresh vegetables and any other groceries can be purchased from the very friendly village shop which is 10 minutes’ walk from the house. If you want a perfect family holiday, then stay at The Mill House!

we had to cancel due to coronavirus travel restrictions - and we still awaiting refund of booking fee from tripadvisor - after writing tripadvisor various times - tripadvisor don't answer their phone - shame ! Hopefully we can enjoy this farmhouse at a later date - trusting that Tripadvisor actually reads this "review" - and take action -

I’m so sorry to hear that TripAdvisor have not refunded your Booking Fee. I must point out to people reading this review that when the booking was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I refunded 100% of the booking deposit to the guest as I felt it was only right and proper to do so. The guests could not travel and the property was closed in line with Government lockdown restrictions. It’s the TripAdvisor Booking Fee that has not been refunded by TripAdvisor. I hope you receive a response from TripAdvisor very soon.

Absolutely perfect family friendly stay!!
What an amazing house! We are a 12 strong 3 generational family who have just enjoyed a 4 day break at The Mill House for a big family celebration. Its in a brilliant location for all that the IoW has to offer, with a pub, beach, great village shop (and even a 'Pooh Sticks' bridge) in walking distance!!
The bedrooms are all a really good size, with the most comfortable beds, and sumptious towels - and loads of instant hot water!! The sitting room is huge yet cosy, with a baby grand thrown in for good measure! And the kitchen, with an AGA and a conventional cooker, had absolutely everything you could ask for - brilliantly provisioned. And the quality of light in the house is just wonderful!
Josie has thought of everything to make this house feel welcome - from logs for the fire, and a welcome basket on arrival; buckets and spades, and boxes of toys everywhere; music and book library; BBQ equipment and outdoor tableware; and even a huge drawer full of things for your dogs!
We have had the most magical time at The Mill House, full of games and giggles - its a brilliant house for Hide & Seek/Sardines! - long walks and then cozying up in front of the log fire, before long evenings round the dining table - we really couldn't have asked for more!

Happy Christmas House!
We had a wonderful family Christmas at The Mill House. It was beautiful, warm and comfortable and had everything needed and more. Josie had decorated the house and put up a beautiful tree which our 6 and 3 year old grand-daughters loved, actually we all did!
First experience of Aga cooking, I want one! A truly lovely experience, home from home. Thank you! Hopefully we’ll be back.

fabulous house, very well equipped, great host and lovely island to explore
Really enjoyable short break at this fabulous house which has been well renovated and was one of the best equipped I have stayed in. The host was very helpful and we had a lovely welcome pack of local produce.

Mill House was excellent!
10 of us had en excellent holiday at Mill House, it was very well equipped with lovely crockery and sharp knives! Bedrooms were light and airy with very comfy beds. Garden was great the dogs enjoyed it immensely. The welcome pack was thoughtfully put together by a very attentive lady, Josie was lovely!! All in all excellent!

Superb house in a superb location
The Mill House is a fabulous house in a fantastic area. There is a short, very pleasant footpath into the quaint village of Brighstone which is really worth doing. Don't miss 'The Dragon Tree'. The house is close to many stunning beaches and the wider area is absolutely beautiful.
Josie, the owner of the Mill House, was helpful and very friendly giving us advice and she organised the ferries for us. There was a hamper waiting for us on our arrival with a personal touch that we very much appreciated.
The house has everything you could possibly want. The house is large, very clean and very well equipped.
The six children in our party ranging from 6 months to 8 years had a fantastic time exploring the extensive gardens. We easily played basketball, rounders and so on.
The interior is cosy and comfortable especially when the children are in bed and the wine appears.
We would strongly recommend a visit to the Mill House. Our only regret is that we did not book more than one week. We would certainly like to return which rather says it all.

The perfect house for a family holiday
We spent a lovely week at the Mill House with six adults and three children ranging in age from 3 to 63! It couldn’t have been better appointed with plenty of quality crockery and glassware and an array of children’s games and toys to entertain the little ones. The welcome pack was extremely generous and full of lovely little touches. The house itself is extremely well situated, perfect for day visits to Tapnell Farm (a winner with our children) or a walk to the beach. We were travelling with dogs so the enclosed garden was perfect for letting them out for a run around. A highlight of a our trip was a meal out at The Hut was which was only a 20 minute drive away. All in all, a fabulous week and only sad it couldn’t have lasted longer. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful family house in a great location.
As a family we have had so many brilliant holidays at the Mill House. The house is very spacious and comfortable, set in a lovely garden. The edge of village location and 10 minute walk to beach make it a perfect place for us to stay each year . Can't wait to visit again next year.

The picturesque village of Brighstone is just a short walk from The Mill House and provides well stocked shops for holiday essentials, The Three Bishops Pub which has a large enclosed garden for families/dogs, cafes, tennis courts and a play park which is ideal for younger children. Nearby small towns of Freshwater and Yarmouth offer a good choice of restaurants, shops and supermarkets. The Island's County Town of Newport provides a wider range of retail outlets as well as a theatre and cinema.
Getting around
I would recommend bringing your car to the Isle of Wight but if that's not an option, the island is served with a very good public bus service and there are plenty of local taxi firms.
