About the neighbourhood
For such a small part of Scotland, there is an amazing contrast in the landscape . The Northern part of Cowal is rugged and remote, with Loch Ech is surely one of the most stunningly picturesque stretches of water in Scotland. Cowal's only major town, Dunoon, hosts little independant shops. We're also lucky enough to have the amazing historic botanical gardens walking distance from the Lodge. A short drive away is a coastline indented with sea lochs and peppered with many lively small communities 'Argyll's Secret Coast', a remote and beautiful stretch of Cowal Coastline taking in the spectacular Kyles of Bute and the picturesque town of Tighnabruaich. This whole area is great for outdoor activities, especially sailing, as well as excellent hospitality, yet is less than two hours from the central belt of Scotland.
Getting around
For exploring a car is our best option. Getting to the lodge involves taking a ferry from Greenock quay. The ferries run frequently and there is no need to book in advance. The journey across the water only takes 20 minutes, but you feel a million miles away, a great start to your holiday!
