Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross, Scotland
The Bothy is a barn conversion set on a small farm, there are two bedrooms, a double/twin and a single, looking out to the South, sit on the patio and watch the most amazing sunsets, the Bothy is a peaceful haven to relax and get away from it all with stone floors with underfloor heating to keep you warm in the winter. Ideal if you are an outdoor enthusiast and love walking cycling, bird watching, kayaking on the Tay, or extreme sports, the Killikrankie bungee jump is only 20 minutes away, or next door you can try clay pigeons, or quad bikes. Try a Highland Safari you will never forget the trip, I went with some Australians just before Christmas they had never seen snow,!! and were ecstatic.!! There is mobile and wifi available despite what some guests have reported we have 4G.
Minimum stay is two days.

I try to be here when you arrive and though the Bothy is just below my house, it is very private. The keys will be in the door and there is a lot of information on the area and I am happy to answer question.

A very thoughtful barn conversion. Well equipped and more spacious than we expected. The owner was very welcoming and helpful. I don't think we would change anything!

The Bothy is a great wee getwaway, and is really spacious and cleverly laid out. The location is ideal for anyone who wants a remote getaway within driving distance to lots of attractions while still feeling as remote as possible. Had our wee 4 month old daughter, and our greyhound with us, and we certainly didn't feel squeezed in, and...

About the neighbourhood
Strahtbraan and the surrounding area is a gem. You can sit and watch the wildlife from the Bothy , or if you come in the Spring the lambs in the field in front of the Bothy, plenty of bird life, herons, buzzards, loads to watch from the Both window, I love the watching the heron slowly passing by. Go quad biking or clay pigeon shooting on the next door farm, you are taken to the top of the hill for fantastic views. Try Highland Safaris near Aberfeldy, a real treat, loads of sports events during the year from the Etape Cycle race to the Mountain Man event. There is also a Cinema in Aberfeldy which has something for everybody. Near to Tombane, there is the Beatrix Potter exhibition at Birnam Arts the kids love it as there are dressing up and things to play with, a shop and a wonderful caf... more

How to get there
Airport: Edinburgh: 90.0 km
Railway: Dunkeld and Birnam: 8.0 km
Take the A9 North to Dunkeld then turn left onto the A822, it says Crieff, after 5 miles, look for a large orange whellie bin on the right hand side of the road, the farm drive goes of on the right. Past the first house and the wooden barn, both on the left, turn in at the next gate on the left, drive in front of The Smithy, the Bothy is below the main house, If it is dark the barn lights will be on and you can see them from the road. Please, please Do not rely on SAT NAV it can take you to the wrong place, bring these directions with you and I suggest you look at and BRING a MAP
