Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastically cozy get-away
What can I say about the Shepherds hut other than my partner and I had a wonderful time staying there over the May bank holiday weekend. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming, even leaving a hamper of essentials inside ready for when we arrived. The hut itself was charmingly decorated, well maintained and surprisingly well equipped considering its size. With small kitchen and log burner we had everything we needed to be completely self sufficient whilst we were there. The location and scenery are both beautiful, and the hut is well situated on the north western edge of the peak district a short drive from many attractions and points of interest within the peak district proper, and only an hours drive from Manchester city centre, ensuring that you'll never be hard pressed for activities during your stay. This is in addition to a number of very fine restaurants in neighbouring villages. A wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed.

Wonderful night away
What a beautiful place to stay over! We had a gorgeous walk in the goyt valley en route, were met and shown around on arrival. We had our own toilet and used the shower the next morning. The hut was so comfy and cosey, has all you need! The welcome basket was fab and the cake delicious! We had a BBQ and lit the chimera.. It was so peaceful ans relaxing. Our dog loved it too,he was able to wander around the hut and was as welcome as we were. Would love to go back

Perfect break away, lovely hosts
Thank you for a wonderful stay we really enjoyed the cosy shepherd's hut, lovely and toasty inside with the log burner going even when it was snowing outside! Arrived late on Friday night to a warm welcome and some delicious home made cake and had the perfect rejuvenating weekend away. We were a bit worried if the hut would be big enough as my partner is 6'3" but he could stand up and the bed was roomy.

Absolutely perfect!
We went to celebrate my 40th with our dogs. It was in an ideal location, looking out to the fields and hills. Perfect size, good amenities and the best welcome hamper we've ever had! The log burner was brilliant, very cosy (it rained the whole time). There is something very British and very romantic about snuggling up inside a little space like this with the wind and rain outside. I imagine it's lovely in summer (proper) loads of walks nearby. We're considering coming with our boy and bringing a tent! The loo by the way was very clean, dry and with no smells! Joanne was delightful, helpful and wanted to make our stay the best it could be, thank you to her. A definite one to return to. You'll not be disappointed!

FABULOUS
We have just returned from a lovely day and night away and we're lucky enough to have been able to stay in the Shepherds Hut run by Joanne. There was absolutely nothing missing that you would have needed. There is a great shower room and WC a perfectly functional kitchen area and a comfy queen sized bed, The view from the hut is to die for. On arrival Joanne had left a Hamper with milk , eggs, bottled water, bread, butter and marmalade and a homemade cake. There was also tea and coffee in the hut. Seriously we could not have been looked after any better if we had been staying in a 5 star hotel and the sleeping arrangements would not have been any better. Absolutely great. Thank you very much.

Little piece of heaven!
The Shepherd's Hut is wonderful in every way! It is beautifully presented and has everything you need for a relaxing, get away from it all weekend. The hamper is a lovely touch and the views are exquisite! We had planned to dine at two separate restaurants in the area, but so fell in love with the Hut that we cancelled and barbequed on both nights of our stay, relaxing outside by the chimnea and enjoying the perfect summer weather. The owners are a lovely couple and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended.

WOW ABSOLUTELY STUNNING
Absolutely stunning Hut stunning views and fantastic hosts. The Hut has everything essential needed even down to a map. The log burner is fab gets very warm very quickly, Joanne's husband (didn't catch his name) even fetched a outside burner which was ok didn't use fully as typical British weather it started raining!! The bed is very comfy everything very clean cannot fault at all. This part is nothing to do with Hut but if you are on Vodafone you get no signal at all WiFi still works though. Basket of eggs wine bread butter water fruit cake and milk. All in all stunning very pleased will be visiting again relaxing break after our wedding wished we could have stopped longer thank-you.
