Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved it
Had a fab 2 night peaceful break in this fab little hut. Small but a tardis with more space than you think possible. The hamper is a lovely touch as a starter point and we cooked on the little 2 burner and sat outside and ate our meal looking over the fields. It was the hottest night of the year whilst we were there and they lent us a fan which was great. It was great couple of days. Only thing I could think that would improve might be a little outside fire to sit round when it's a bit chilly. Hope to go back

Amazing
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in the shepherds hut! The hut is small and cosy but has everything you need and is well equipped. (Only thing we found missing was salt and pepper!) we had a very warm welcome on arrival, including a hamper which was a lovely touch -the fruit cake was delicious and the eggs were yummy, we had them for breakfast the following morning. The hut was so clean and tidy, the sheets smelt lovely :) we loved spending the night cooking dinner and playing board games by the log fire enjoying the spectacular views from the window. We went for lunch at The Swan inn just up the road from the hut which was excellent, can highly recommend the food there and it is within walking distance. There's lots to see and do within close proximity. Very highly recommended, we will definitely be returning in the summer.

Had a peaceful perfect night away with everything we needed and more. Joanne was great and even left us a fab welcome pack. Couldn't believe a small space could be so well equiped. We wanted for nothing. Log burner was amazing. We were so warm and cosy in February. Definitely be going again...

Small and well equipped
We stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The shepherd's hut had everything you might need and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch. It snowed when we were there and Joanne made sure we had everything we needed. The log burner was very effective at keeping us toasty! All in all a lovely place to stay.

Amazing hideaway
Myself and my partner visited here at the beginning of December. It was a beautiful night and we were amazed by the little touches the owner puts in the hut to welcome you. The log burner was well used and made the hut very cosy. Thank you and we will be returning

Very cosy, unique experience. Wouldn't hesitate to book again, thanks Joanne!
Joanne was present upon arrival to show us everything and was a very warm and welcoming host. She gave us clear instructions on how to use everything and went above and beyond on every aspect, including leaving a little hamper with essentials like fresh eggs and bread. After that she showed us where her and her husband were staying if we needed anything and left us to settle in. She appeared very laid back and trusted us to lock up etc. upon departure and nothing seemed too much trouble. The hut contained everything we needed and more including an electric hob, kettle, heater, and even hot water bottles which came handy as it was freezing during the night! The toilet and shower facilities were also absolutely spotless. The location was ideal, as the surroundings were very peaceful yet close to Buxton Town Centre (about 10 mins approx.) I would say look hard for the sign on your way down as it’s quite faded. When you come to it (it’s hung on a tree next to a small building and some car parking spaces) make sure to bare right at the tree, as we went completely past it and struggled to turn around. The hut itself was like a tardis! My partner is over 6 ft and he didn't have any problems during our stay. We are quite a young couple and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are confident the hut is suitable for all ages. All in all, an amazing stay and even though it was raining we both slept amazing. Thanks for your hospitality, Joanne.

Loved my stay
Absolutely loved staying here, what a beautiful hut turned out perfectly with lots of extra touches including a food hamper. A little private toilet was situated just behind the hut and a shower and toilet was attached to the owners accommodation for use as well. Wifi was also very good, the log burner warmed the hut up very quickly and it stayed warm and cosy all night. The views were amazing, so quiet and peaceful, I will definitely be back again :)
