It is equipped and furnished to a very high standard, with almost everything you could need for a totally relaxed holiday. It has been converted by a local builder with great care to retain many original features whilst creating a warm and welcoming cottage in which to truly unwind and get away from it all.
You enter Pippins through a door into a cosy sitting/dining room with comfortable seating, oak furniture and a 32” Panasonic LCD TV, a DVD player and iPad/iPod dock. You will find games in the cupboard and plenty of books to choose from in the bookcase and tourist information and maps to help you plan your stay.
There are two steps up to the kitchen which is a very light room with windows lining the two outer walls. It is very well equipped with a good quality electric cooker, a microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. There is a door that leads out to your own delightful courtyard garden planted with scented roses. Here you will find garden furniture, an umbrella and Weber charcoal barbecue.
The bedroom overlooks its own pretty, little garden which you can access through double doors. The bed is a super king sized (6ft) pocket sprung, zip and link divan which can, if required, be divided into twin beds. There is also a small remote controlled TV. The en-suite bathroom has an over-bath shower.
If you want a rest from driving there is access onto a public footpath just outside the garden, and the Vanguard Way is only 10 minute's walk away. Several vineyards in the vicinity produce some rather good wines which can be sampled and bought.
The Bluebell Steam Railway makes frequent journeys from Sheffield Park, with its period railway station and frequent special evening and week-end events for all ages. A great day out can also be enjoyed on the Ashdown Forest, the home of Winnie the Pooh and his friends, is less than 2 miles away, which is an ideal setting for wildlife and offers the perfect recipe for picnics, walking and riding.
This is an area rich in historic houses and beautiful gardens. Glyndebourne Opera House is only 30 minute's drive. Why not have a day out, do some shopping and take in the Georgian Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells or visit the seaside towns of Brighton or Eastbourne. Battle Abbey and 1066 country are both within easy reach. Or how about hiring a bike and taking a ride on the Cuckoo Trail.
The Hurstwood (reviews on tripadvisor) which is the nearest pub is just a 7 minute stroll away. The nearest railway station is only 6 minute's drive away with direct access to London in about 70 minutes. There is a village store a couple of miles up the road and the major superstores in Uckfield and Crowborough are all within a 15 minute drive.

Perfect cottage for a very quiet break, house well equipped, home from home. Joan went the extra mile to ensure we were accommodated for. Loved the whole experience. Will certainly be back.
A super cottage, we return every year, I’ve lost count of how many times now. We come for a week whilst we go to Glyndebourne and visit our favourite places in this part of Sussex.

A Gem of a Review - Many thanks for writing us such a great review. One of the best things about having holiday cottages is when we have the chance to welcome back our visitors.

Thank you for the great review. I had forgotten about the boiler breaking down! That is every cottage owners nightmare that the heating will give up in the middle of January! I an so glad that the heaters did the trick.
