We spent a week in the Annexe and found the location as well as the accommodation extremely pleasant. The bedroom was a good size for two people and the small but functional kitchen was more than adequate for our needs. The accommodation was clean and ideal for a couple visiting the area. Our pet dog was accepted and it was only a short walk before we were out on open grassland when we needed her to be clean. Geographically it was close to the town centre at Brockenhurst and we could easily walk into the centre as we wished. The...

We much enjoyed our stay but the instructions for opening the key box were out of date as were most of the information leaflets which of course are less vital in the age of the internet.

The New Forest lies to the west of Southampton Water in south-west Hampshire and covers 37,677 hectares. Centuries of human management and livestock grazing have meant that the forest is a combination of heathland, ancient woodland, wetlands and grassy plains, with many enclosures of both coniferous and deciduous woodland. The commoners’ ponies and cattle roam freely across the forest, controlling and shaping the vegetation as they graze. <BR><BR>‘New Forest’, or ‘Nova Foresta’, was created by William the Conqueror as a royal hunting ground, and forest laws were enforced to protect the hunted animals and their habitats. From the M27 take the Cadnam Exit 1 and at the roundabout take the first exit when reaching the next roundabout take the third exit to Lyndhurst onto the A337. Continue on this road until reaching the traffic lights at Lyndhurst turn left onto the High Street and then turn right into Gosport Road. Bear left onto Clay Hill continue for approximately 2.5 miles and then turn left into Balmer Lawn Road. Continue on Balmer Lawn Road for approximately 1.5 miles and the property will be found on the right hand side.
