We have left them for you to read to give you an idea of the quality and standard we like our guests to experience.* Newly-renovated, Corniwillin Cottage welcomed its' first guests in January 2018. And what a first year we had! Excellent occupancy rates despite being the new kids in town, lovely reviews, a request to film for TV (sadly, we were fully-booked and unable to invite the film crew in), several sets of returning guests - it's been amazing, thank you! Corniwillin is Devon dialect for lapwing - our very own corniwillin was installed in March 2018 after being crafted by a local artisan - see if you can find it! Nestled in a central but quiet residential street, just a stone's throw from the historic Pannier Market, this cottage sleeps 6 - choose from a kingsize bed, a trundle daybed (can be a single, two singles or a kingsize bed) and a large and comfortable sofabed. 2 bedrooms: Bedroom 1 has a kingsize bed with memory foam mattress, a built-in wardrobe, full-length mirrors, portable beanbag seating, a hairdryer and a 32' TV with Freeview and built-in DVD player which will play CDs. Bedroom 2 has a daybed with trundle under - this can be pulled out to form 2 single beds at different heights, or raised on legs to form a kingsize bed. The mattresses are springy and have memory foam toppers for your comfort - please resist the temptation to jump/bounce on this bed lol. This room also has a freestanding wardrobe with rail, drawers and mirror, plus a TV with DVD/VHS player. Plenty of clothes hangers are provided in both bedrooms for your convenience. The living room has a multi-fuel stove, 40' TV with Freeview, DVD/Blu-Ray player, NowTV with Sky channels and Movies. Sky Sports is also available at an additional £8 for a 24 hour pass (Box Office events are usually £24.99) - if there's a big event you just can't miss, simply contact us to make payment and we'll have it turned on for you. The kitchen is fully-equipped, with sage green units, oak worktops, fridge-freezer, double oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and plenty of crockery, cutlery, utensils, gadgets and pans; for the nights you fancy chilling out at home with home-cooked meals. Check out our new map wall, intended to help you plan your stay and get the most out of the wonderful local area and attractions! Whether a bath with handheld showerhead or a large separate shower cubicle is your favourite, Corniwillin provides both to choose from in the large upstairs bathroom (sorry, but there is no toilet downstairs). Towels are included. The washing machine is in the corner cupboard in the bathroom, by the sink. Free wi-fi is provided, plus NowTV including Sky Movies, and DVD, Blu-Ray and VHS players. Radio stations can be accessed via the Freeview service on all TVs or the CD stereo in the kitchen. A good selection of CDs, DVDs, books and board games can be found around the house. The garden is an enclosed, walled courtyard with new patio laid in April 2018, tables and seating for 6 and funky artwork installed. A perfect space for intimate al fresco dining, or a family feast using the charcoal BBQ provided. There is a covered outdoor passage to the rear of the property - perfect for storing your bikes if you've come to enjoy the perfect cycling countryside. Pets welcome for a small additional charge (£5 per pet, per night) to cover additional cleaning. If you would like to bring your pets, please request a quote before booking. 2 feed bowls, 1 water bowl and 1 large dog bed are provided, plus towels for muddy paws. Early check in or late check out may be possible for £10 per hour, depending on availability. PLEASE NOTE: if requesting a revised quote due to pets, early check in/late check out or any other reason, please DO NOT pay the deposit until you receive the revised quote. You may be charged twice and then be re-credited for the first deposit. This is a function of the site and is beyond our control. We provide all linen for your convenience - our cleaning fee includes tumbledrying the towels and teatowels to keep them soft and fluffy for all our guests, plus washing and ironing the bedding and throws. PLEASE NOTE: the sliding sash windows at the front of the house only open a couple of inches for safety. They have brass bumpstops - please DO NOT force them past these, or you will break the frames! Those with limited mobility should be aware of the following: There is a large sofabed downstairs, but the bathroom is upstairs and the stairs in this traditional glovemakers cottage are quite steep. There is no downstairs loo - we're sorry for any disappointment, but there isn't anywhere to install one! There is a step up from the pavement to the front door. Corniwillin Cottage is our second home - we have tried to think of everything, in the hope it becomes the same for you. We hope you have a wonderful time in our little house! More

Access is via a keysafe - the combination will be given to you prior to your check-in date. There is a folder in the cottage with emergency contact numbers, in case you experience any issues during your stay. In the living room, you will find leaflets and brochures for local attractions, plus in the kitchen, we have installed a map wall to help you find your way around the South West. PLEASE NOTE: the sliding sash windows at the front of the house only open a couple of inches for safety. They have brass bumpstops - please DO NOT force them past these, or you will break the frames! Please also use the trivets provided in the kitchen - we have been forced to close the cottage twice for repairs to burns on the oak worktops :(

About the neighbourhood
Bideford, together with East the Water, is nestled in a valley on either side of the Torridge Estuary, steeped in maritime history with countryside, walking and beaches all around! The town offers lots of shopping opportunities and all kinds of cuisines to sample if you don't fancy cooking (you're on holiday - put your feet up!). Our soon-to-be installed map wall in the kitchen and leaflets in the living room will help you choose all kinds of exciting or relaxing ways to enjoy your time with us. The beautiful and historic Pannier Market and Butchers Row, housing local artisan craftsmen, are just a minute's walk from our front door. Be sure to visit to experience local farmers markets, craft fairs and events!
Getting around
Buses are plentiful in the local area and trains can be caught from Barnstaple or Exeter. Check local listings or our leaflet rack for routes and timetables. For real freedom and range, a car is the best option, but not necessary, especially if Bideford itself is where you're coming to visit - the whole town can be reached on foot from the cottage. Bideford is in a valley - please remember there are hills wherever you go in this part of the world! They give a great workout!
