Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

A great place to spend the Christmas period. Lots of nearby walks and villages just a short drive away. The cottage was clean and warm, with everything that we needed and more. The hosts filled the bird feeder with nuts, which attracted a variety of birds from a woodpecker to bluetits. I think that we spent more time watching the birds than we did watching the TV. We enjoyed our stay that much that we tried to book again for next Christmas while we were there, it came as no surprise at all that it was fully booked due to the excellent value. We hope to visit again soon.

A great pet-friendly place to stay
My husband and I with our two dogs stayed at Ordie Bakery Cottage for 2 weeks at the beginning of October. The cottage was perfect for us - cosy and comfortable with everything that we needed, and good value for money. Both humans and dogs were made to feel very welcome! A great location - we had come to the area to fly at Deeside Gliding Club, and the cottage is less than 10 minutes drive from the airfield. The area is stunning with plenty to do - lots of great walks and places to visit. We will certainly stay again next time we are in the area. Thank you for a great fortnight!

Ordie Bakery Cottage Ordie is so handy for so many lovely walks and visits to interesting places. However, a couple of things that could improve the cottage would be, 1) To cut down the Cypress tree opposite the living room patio doors. It cuts out so much light both to the garden and to the living room itself, which has no other window or source of natural light. It was very dark inside. 2)The duvet was far too thick for a hot summer. It would've been ok in frosty cold weather. 3) The kitchen wasn't very clean, as was down the back of the sofa bed. 4) ...and perhaps a coat of paint for the front door. It's not a very welcoming sight on arrival.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I agree about the trees, and we are hoping to get them cut back again soon. The duvet is a good point. This is the first time ever it has been an issue - if we get such amazing weather again we will put in a thinner one! Aware of the other issues and will work through them as funds allow. As I explained, the sofa bed is out of action currently as a previous guest broke it, We didn't know you were going to use it as your booking was only for 2 people. Thanks again for staying. Julie

Great place for a break, wonderful views
Just spent 2 weeks here with my wife and cat, waiting to move into our new home. The cottage has everything you need, including the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Easy access to Aboyne, Banchory, Huntly and beyond. Great views and all kinds of bird life feeding outside the kitchen window. Great quality with to, I couldn't t rate it any higher. Very friendly and helpful owners. George Morrison

Great place to stay
If you want peace and quiet this is the place to come. The cottage is spacious with all mod cons the owners have thought of everything, including Wifi which for some reason I could not connect to. Loved watching the birds that came to the feeder just outside the kitchen window The towns of Aboyne and Ballater are close by both have a Co-op. Ballater has a great Butchers and a bakery. There are lots of walks in the area of varying lengths and difficulty. I would definitely stay here again

Friendly, thoughtful and helpful
The cottage is modern, very comfortable and in a nice, convenient location. A real bonus is that the owners are next door. They are friendly and always ready to help. They have thought of everything as far as the cottage is concerned, providing all that you would need (apart from your own food, of course!). All in all, the holiday has been a lovely, easy time.
