Far from the madding crowd, set down its own private leafy driveway nestled in 8 acres of fields and woodland. The old cottage dates back to the early Victorian age and is full of charm and character. It has an open fire, oil fired central heating, (only available during the winter months) and has a warm home from home feel. The cottage has a large 5' bed, and romantic eves with skylights to gaze upon the stars. The bedroom has limited headroom but is very romantic. A large deep bath with shower attachment is on the ground floor, with a small toilet/wash basin upstairs. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer and washing machine available (conditions apply) There is a graveled area in front of the cottage, with table and seats to sit ...Far from the madding crowd, set down its own private leafy driveway nestled in 8 acres of fields and woodland. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer and washing machine available (conditions apply) There is a graveled area in front of the cottage, with table and seats to sit and watch the horses grazing in the paddocks, or have your breakfast and watch the birds and wildlife. There is a very private garden overlooking the fields with a fire pit and sun loungers and seating. Peace and tranquility, situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Langton Herring, just the place to unwind. Dogs are welcome (only 2) and owners must comply with the owners request to keep them on a lead and off the furniture. Owners are responsible for picking up after their dogs and putting in the tall black bin at the top of the drive. There is a charge of £5 per day per dog payable to the owner for extra cleaning. Walking distance to the famous Chessil beach, but only 3 miles from Weymouth and 7 miles from Dorchester. The cottage is completely self contained with plenty of parking. Weekly rentals or short breaks in the winter. Plenty of walks to take in the stunning views of Abbotsbury and surrounding areas along the coastal path. The Elm Tree public house is a short walk into the village, next door to the Norman church of St. Peter. The Fleet Lagoon famous for the Abbotsbury Swannery, and subtropical gardens is approximately 1 mile down a country bridleway, overlooking the stunning views of the Fleet Lagoon and the Chesil Beach. The fresh smell of the sea, and the waves crashing on the beach (when the wind is in the right direction) add to the atmosphere of this unique little gem. You will want to come back here. In the winter months a log fire is available, and logs, kindling etc. can be purchased from the owner. Central heating is on from October till April. The peace is only disturbed by the noise of the pheasants and the sound of the sea pulling out from Chesil Beach. The copse is full of fallen leaves which entice the deer into the wood. These can often be seen from the cottage bedroom windows grazing with the horses or eating my plants. Many of my guests say how well they sleep in the peace of this cottage, and feel so refreshed when their stay is over. Regulars come back every few months just to chill out. Bookings of 2 nights are requested to bring their own bath towels.More

About the neighbourhood
This village is one of the most popular places to visit, as it is conveniently placed between the seaside town of Weymouth, and the County Town of Dorchester both within easy reach. The stunning views from Portland Bill and the Portland lighthouse are only 6 miles away. The famous Chesil beach is a gentle walk through the village and down a bridle path, with the Fleet Lagoon nestled into the hillside. The Abbotsbury swans feed from the Fleet, and it is a wonderful spot to bird watch. The local pub is the Elm Tree, and fresh fish is a speciality cooked to order. Well known for its good food, log fire and cosy atmosphere, within a quick walk up the cottage private driveway. (downhill on the way home) A torch is a must as there are no street lights in this village, but there is one provide...
