A comfortable cottage in Durham City, within easy walking distance to the City Centre, Cathedral and University. The cottage is a grade11 listed building in the Gilesgate conservation area facing on to the green with plenty of free parking.
It is a great location for exploring Durham City and the surrounding area. Fern Cottage is firm favourite with parents visiting their sons or daughters at Durham University and the cottage has everything need to make a meal for them during the stay. The cottage has a small private courtyard at the rear.
There is a supermarket, a decent pub with food, a fish and chip shop all within a couple of minutes walk of the property. The local bus service is quite good and so a car is not needed to get around.

Cottage was first class. Everything was as you would want it yourselves.
The only drawback was the proximity to a main road. The traffic noise was 24 hours. Cars, Lorries, klaxons and buses.
If you can shut this out this cottage is perfect.

Lovely old cottage in a lovely old city. Very well equipped and comfortable. Well placed, out of the city centre but only a 10 minute walk into the city, where there are plenty of things to do. Would definitely stay here again.

Fern Cottage is in a conservation area with nice views onto a green with surround historic houses. It is 3 minutes walk from a medium sized Sainsbury's supermarket that is open till 10pm every night.
There is a takeaway and fish and chip shop within walking distance and a pub with food.
It is within walking distance of the city centre, approx 15 mins and has regular bus service as well.

The bus service is good in the area and it is easy to access most attractions on public transport.
